Not sure why yours is further forward... Mine is pretty much against the back of the engine bay with that little foam bit that gets in the way. You are only lifting off the pedal when the bleed nipple is closed aren't you?

If air has got into the system/abs, that'll be a nightmare to get out without using a pressurised bleeder and clip to open and close valves in a certain way.

Reservoir shouldn't be touching the engine no... What method are you using for bleeding, pressurised or manual pedal pumping?

Aye, sounds like the battery has drained. Any reason for having the ignition on whilst bleeding the brakes?

What do you mean Trophy rear bumpers are hard to come by... They're the same as any other 182 bumper. That could be filled/plastic welded and painted easily and cheap enough.
