I was thinking of driving down to the Alps this winter as it would be a fun road trip. It might sound daft, but do snow chains damage alloys? I have seen some cars in the Alps with strange caps on the centre cap which I guess pushes the chains away from the rim? Has anybody used chains on...

I went from a 1.4 civic to a 172. MY girlfriend pissed herself laughing when I first put my foot down off some lights...... Apparently I had never looked so serious, but the difference in speed at take off was a bit of a shock!!! :D

I was using the exchange rate to change 27000 Euros into 19000 pounds! The cheepest 2nd hand 182 on the internet are 25,000 Euro with 15,000 kms on the clock.. All this does mean that you do not see many on the roads though. :-)

26/ 2001 Mk2 172. Just had it over a week! They cost a lot more over here in Holland than they seem to in the UK though! Reading that you pick up a new trophy for 13,000 when a new 182 costs 19,000 over here and the dealers have not even heard of a trophy!

Seats, gearknob and stearing wheel are all perfect. Looks like it is a soft alloy then. I was hoping that mine was not the only one! Thanks for the feedback.
