There are wires under your seats. fiddle with them and the light should go off - unless it's been in an impact.
It's a common fault, and the Renault fix is to solder the wires together and remove the connector blocks.

I know what you're saying, but it's not like you're comparing new vs. old. You're comparing new with every option ticked vs. what I'm guessing isn't a comparatively specced BMW.

I threw mine on when changing my steering wheel, as it needs to be dead center in relation to where the wheels are pointing, if it isn't it throws up an error.
