    Something's not quite right..

How have you come to that conclusion? its probably just a small air lock in the new caliper. It took me 2 or 3 attempts to get a decent pedal after rebuilding my brembos.

    197 oil

They are lying then! Take it back and ask for proof of that. Give Renault a call, see what they say is normal consumption.

    197 oil

The dealer would tell you that wouldn't they! They don't want to accept that something is wrong. Put it like this, I used a litre in 12 months and 10,000 miles. That's on a fairly high mileage 197 (70k miles). its either leaking, or burning it. Either way it needs sorting out!

Using a fair bit of oil

I'd imagine that amount of usage is well within the tollerances specified by Renault. If it's running ok and there's no visible signs of leakage I wouldn't be worried to be honest!

    Sky tv offers?

No, I could have got £20 or £30 cashback through quidco, but it was just easier to call them and arrange moving (we already have Virgin). It was hard work getting them to understand that I didn't want there TV package anymore because it's shite (I hate Tivo!)

    Sky tv offers?

I went with the Quidco offer in the end. So here's what i've ordered for our new house: Sky TV entertainment extra+ 2TB HD sky+ box 12 month contract £100 M&S voucher £120 cashback from quidco No connection/set up fee £31.50 / month Then for BB and telephone Virgin Media 120mb connection...

    Sky tv offers?

Never used quidco, but seems I can get the same offer plus £120 cash back. How does the cash back thing work?

    Sky tv offers?

Is that as a new customer or some sort of loyalty thing?
  12. Chrisgti6

    Sky tv offers?

Does anyone know of any good sky tv offers at the minute? I'm just after a TV package, no BB or telephone. All entertainment channels but not interested in movies/sport. best I can see atm is £31.50 per month with a free 2tb box and £100 of m&s vouchers. Anything better out there?

    Old car dilemma

No, if you still like the car and the condition is still good then go for it. I owned the same 306 S16 twice a few years ago for the same reason.

Air con problem, gas ok, clutch engages, any ideas ?

Yup, as stated in here it's about weight of refrigerant and lube, not pressure. Pressure is a good indicator that there isn't a leak but not that the correct qty is actually in the system. Recover and refil is best option.

    Camcorder recommendations?

We bought a jvc hd camcorder last year for exactly the same purpose, it was from currys and cost about £180. Excellent. It of kit! plenty to look at in that budget

    Excel help please

I'd start with some pivot tables personally. If still struggling tomorrow I'll knock something up at work.

    juddering and coolant warning light

Head gasket failure would be my guess with the info to hand. If its not leaking coolant it's going somewhere else so either out the exhaust or into the sump (or both!)

heelllp ,,, does anyone know ????

You need the proper gear to gas it up really. It's done by weight so not really a DIY job

Clio 197 - Carbon Fibre Pack

Personally I think it's overpriced. I've seen early cars going for around the 4.5k mark recently. Just to put the price into perspective I paid sub 6k for my 2007 R27 15 months ago on similar miles. If the belts haven't been done then I'd be wanting a MASSIVE discount. If they haven't had the...

    197 vs 200

Got to agree, it's crazy! The wifes Ibiza is doing about 2k at 70mph (it is a 7 speed though!)

    Moving from VM to sky

Whilst that sounds like an excellent idea, it's hardly 'legit' is it?

    197 vs 200

    Are you sure about that?

    clio 02 any tips???

Stop for a tea break mid oil change? That will take longer! Seriously though, change the oil and filters for good quality items on or before the service intervals. Basically stick to the service schedue Renault gave with the car and it will be fine. Edit: post in the service section if you...

    rebuild info

What kind of rebuild are you talking about though? Head rebuild, block, both, high comp, forged etc. Thread is too vague to help at the minute. what is the reason for rebuild?

Clio 197......Rev's but seems slower than it should

To be honest, they don't really pull well until 4.5k ish anyway, it's probably fine!
  27. Chrisgti6

Clio 197......Rev's but seems slower than it should

How old is it? Has it had the belts changed? If so by who? You should get a small 'kick' at around 5k revs but I've heard if the timing isn't done quite right then it can lose this and be down on power. It could also be the weather, I know I can feel a difference in my car on these warm days.

    auxillary belt fallen off

Discounting the wheel retrimm surely it's only a couple of hundred quids worth of work? Hardly a HUGE amount on money!

    Rocker cover removal

Yep, std paint will be fine. i painted the block of my Punto GT about 8 years ago. I painted it the colour of the car using rattle cans and lacquered it. 5k later it was still good as new.
