Selling a car to be exported

Found the email from DVLA, it's from 2014 so maybe best to check nothing's changed, but here's what they told me: It may be helpful if I explain that, if you are selling your vehicle to a purchaser outside the UK the following advice applies to notifying export. You, the current registered...

Selling a car to be exported

That's if you are personally exporting the car I.e. taking it abroad with you. Selling is different, or at least that's what DVLA told me when I spoke to them. They may, of course, have been talking crap as their customer service people can be a bit variable but that's what they said. Maybe...

Selling a car to be exported

You need to write a letter to DVLA telling them it's been sold and permanently exported. There are no forms for it, guess it's not worth their while as it's pretty rare. The new owner took the whole V5 in my case as they needed it for the import (was going to Ireland)

    My F4Rt Clio 200

Today was quite the day, talk about everything falling into place! I genuinely was not expecting to have this on my drive tonight, but sometimes the stars just align perfectly...... Oh YEAH

    Mossy's Cars

Was a pleasure to meet you mate, looking forward to seeing how the car gets on. It's genuinely epic and I know it's in safe hands

    My F4Rt Clio 200

I love this car and have had a huge amount of fun in it, but tomorrow it goes to it's new owner. It's staying on the forum, which is great, so I'll let the new owner say as much or as little about it as they want to. What's next? I was very keen on the Focus RS Mk2, but to me the prices feel...

Oh, hold on, it's a slusher. I wanted it more once it had had a manual conversion done :D

    E91 Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo - A slight downgrade

I had an E90 D3 BT for a while, they're really good cars. There is some serious suspension magic going on in them, I don't know how they did it because it's nothing especially trick but it rides well and handles beautifully - on the right road you'll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Niche car...

    220 trophy 0-1000m

^^^^ That. The RS Clios weren't the best cars in their class for straight line performance, it's the involvement and fun factor that they used to be the best at. I've not driven any of the Mk4s so I can't really comment any further than that. :)

    Volvo 850R

Loving seeing an old 850 getting brought back to where it should be, happy days :) I prefer the old grille too, but hey, it's your car so fill your boots. You definitely used to be able to get all sorts of stuff for the eggcrate grilles, but been a while since I've seen much around.

    Megane brake pads - opinions?

Yeah they're not cheap... Man maths tells me they're "only" £60 more expensive than the DS2500's and that's not a huge amount more expensive. But then, man maths is b****cks :D

    Megane brake pads - opinions?

Sorry to resurrect this one, but I'm pad shopping for the 200 and considering the DS 1.11, but they're listed as not for road use. Is that just a regulatory thing? Currenly running DS2500's and while I've had no issues with fade I'd like something that doesn't give so much disc transfer for my...

    Volvo 850R

Hah, genius :D You're not the first to do that and you won't be the last. Oil could just be from a previous leak I guess, or did it look fresh? @craigyt Nice gul there

    Volvo 850R

I'll put money on it being the turbo return oil seal, they always go on these. Not a lot of money mind, because at this age they tend to piss it out from the cam seals, the bottom of the dipstick, the filler cap if the seal's gone, even the bloody sump gasket likes a good weep :D

Volans all the way. Pegs just don't work that well on the P1 cars IMO. Personally I was always partial to the Comets, bloody lovely wheels. Happy days :)

    Volvo 850R

If it's noise you want then polybush the engine stabiliser top mount. Basically makes a much more direct connection between the engine and the firewall - downside is a bit of vibration, upside is the most amazing 5-pot growl/yowl. I have a really old sound file somewhere of my old T5, it really...

    Volvo 850R

Very nice, any decent 850 and Phase 1 V70/S70 T5-engined cars seem to be getting very rare and values are on the up. Which is a bugger, as I'd really like to own one again :)

    Knock knock....

Sounds likely, my money would be on caliper, if the bearing is that far gone that the wheel will hardly move it would usually be howling like an absolute banshee. My missus once complained to me that her old Clio Billabong was making a funny noise, took it out for a test drive and it was fine...

    Knock knock....

CV joint, driveshaft or wheel bearing would all be candidates, best jack it up and rotate each wheel in turn, see if you can work out which wheel and feel for play etc - or just sling it at a garage ;)

    New List 1B tyre - Extreme VR2

Wow, retreads for rally and drift use? Bit random, wonder what the base carcass is. If it varies then there could be a fair bit of inconsistency between tyres I'd have thought. Would be interesting to see some feedback on them though.

    My F4Rt Clio 200

Good news! Clean bill of health on the MoT, two minor advisories (one missing bolt on the cat fixing and slight play in one of the lower swivel ball joints in the front suspension) both of which I'm having fixed. Luckily you can now get the lower swivel joint separately from the hub so I don't...

    Still handling issues

Sounds like you're describing understeer, the front end washes out wide under cornering? Is there any pattern to when it happens, is it particular corners or is it random? Understeer is usually a lack of front end grip which is odd since you have crap tyres on the back and decent ones on the...

    My F4Rt Clio 200

Thanks, it was, and now it isn't any more :D The roads are minging at the moment..... Cheers :) I've decided to use it a bit more actually, I'm going to make sure it gets used at least one day a week even if that means commuting in it, I think that's better for cars than leaving them sat in...

    My F4Rt Clio 200

Time to bring the Clio out of hibernation, MoT, oil service and a pre-trackday season check over by my mechanic is looming. Got some mates lined up to hold the garage door up for me, this could be fun - in a "this will be no fun at all" kinda way......
