Eurocarparts show the belt only to be 18 quid, so id imagine a local factors would be able to get a kit for 35-40 quid to be honest, at the most.
Unsure if you need the tools to do it, hopefully someone will confirm on here!
If they have no recollection of the belt being done, just change it anyway while its out, 100x easier and a worry out of the way (Just get kit from factors, dont bother with gen renault)...
Yep...literally drain coolant, remove radiator, remove gear linkage, remove exhaust downpipe....drain...
1. service history, proof of mileage etc
2. shouldnt need anything bolts wise. you'l need general tools, jack, engine crane. fluids...engine oil, coolant, gearbox oil. Then decide if you want to do the clutch while its out, or timing belt if there is no proof of it being done before?!
3. You...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Better press got the old sleeve out. New bearing pressed in, fitted and back driving again :)
Got some better footage now the exhaust is done and fitted properly too...

I guess B.....but if you wanted a valver track car you just have to decide how far you want to go with it.
Would you want to keep the F7P? if not ££ to upgrade....
Would you want a cage? ££ for a decent weld in job....
Then Suspension? ££ for shocks/coilovers and then you might want...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Well, nothing worked lol. Mainly down to me not having the correct press tooling I think...
I only have the outer bearing race (or sleeve/housing) left in the disk, but didnt have the right size bit to press it out. We tried but it wouldnt budge at all, so...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Going to try and press it later on, im 50/50 weather there is a lip on the sleeve that is left that can be used or not, hoping there is. Considering it has to come out 'forwards' so to speak, its the only way it could be pressed I guess...
If not, il just...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Fail. Its staying.
...for now.
Gotta try and get the sleeve out of the disc later, its still stuck in there. Can get a new bearing and pop that in tomorrow then, if all goes to plan
Aye, thats happened a few times with my previous jack lol.
This one comes with foam padding on the handle so you can rest it against the bodywork without any problems
I have a circuit, runs off 8v-12v...
It needs capacitors, 100uf, 1uf and 20nf (0.02uf).
Picking some up tomorrow from CPC, does it matter what voltage rating I get? I.e they stock 50v, 100v and higher....would a 100v do the job fine for example?
Spring loaded yeah, handle is huge and two piece.
Not sure on the ratio, but it lifts quickly. Arcan make them, Costco stock them from time to time....price seems to change every time they get them in!
ftw. Ive seen the price vary on these over the past few months, from £60-80 inc VAT. 1000x Better built than the clarke stuff IMO. 9cm entry and 3tonne capacity, cant really get better for the price.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Going to leave it and 'age' it a bit I think, see how it looks then.
Im guessing my decision will change once it looks less 'new'
Yeah, it will eventually go that way I guess due to heat (my center section did)...
The 2" pipe I originally had one was a used piece of pipe, so was dirty/bronze already, but the fresh 2.25" is horribly shiny, dosent look right...
I wonder if i blast it for a while with the gas torch it might...
Everyone knows how stainless steel goes bronze-ish colored over time with heat and being exposed, right?
Is there any way I can gain this 'finish' quickly, as im hating the shiny/clean finish of the stainless at the moment.
Gas torch to get it upto a high temp?! Anyone know how I can 'age' it...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Its never ending!
Yeah axle is fine it seems. Not going to bother buying a new disc, considering they have not even done 8k! The bearings done the same, lasted 8 trackdays, suppose something had to give
Think the general stuff thats used is either 44.45mm x 2.06mm, or 40mm x 2.~ as you mentioned..... I know all my cage is made from the first size, cold drawn seamless (supplied by custom cages)
