Erm, the latest ST is massively well-regarded...like...massively. It took a bit of time for the MK7 to become as common as it ended up being.
You are right though, there were a lot of changes when it came to the MK4 Clio. If they'd offered a manual, it probably would have been really...
I am thinking about setting up a sim rig for a bit of driving fun. Thought I would check this thread out, but I have realised that I clearly know nothing lol
I'll give you that, it's ok on cast brake calipers.
I wouldn't use it for anything else though I don't think. VHT aerosols are pretty good for painting odd mechanical bits, though powder coat is the ultimate.
It does look so good in white, but it just doesn't stay that way. I didn't clear coat when I did mine, but it can help. Old works Fords were lacquered under the bonnet because it helped prevent staining.
I think I left about half an hour between coats. I only did two.
I did the inside of my car. Used 2k paint. It wasn't the worst job. I did prime first. I have tried to paint with rattle cans before, but it wasn't as durable as 2k.
My main advice would be to avoid white. It looks nice when you first do it, but it's a pain in the arse because it shows every mark.
I wouldn't worry too much about the 1.3. M-Sport are getting 200bhp from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost now. I would think the 1.3 Renault engine could be quite fruity in competition form.
Yeah I think you're right. The Alpine project has taken a lot of resources I should imagine. A slightly odd decision in a way, because you'd think the volume potential in a hot Clio might be better than the A110, but I suspect we'll see some sort of awful Alpine-branded SUV/Crossover thing at...
Or, to translate Mr. Kasai's statement, "Our petrol engine line-up is a f**king disaster, so I don't have anything to fit into a new R.S. Clio. We did so much damage to the reputation of the fast Clio when we launched the 200EDC that I am too worried about getting spanked by the Ford Fiesta ST...
That might be a bit harsh. The 200EDC did miss the mark a bit, but still got quite a lot of praise, while the 220 Trophy did right a lot of the wrongs. Omitting a manual was a mistake though. If a manual had been available, I think it would have been up there among the best in class.
Yeah I wondered that. The 1300 turbo must be capable of more than 140PS. Add mild hybrid and it would be in the ballpark. They could use the engine in other cars too.
Read about this on the Evo website. A guy from Renault said a new Clio R.S. would just be unaffordable as it would cost so much to make an engine. It's funny how Ford have managed it though, isn't it?
I'm surprised Renault don't have an engine. The writing was on the wall when the race/rally...
The new one is 4WD, not FWD. Mass appeal and selling more cars (including cooking models) is probably more important to BMW than appeasing a few car nerds.
In fairness, a good chunk of that list impacts the 1*2 as well. My 197 crunches a little into third if you give it death, but my 172 did for the four years I owned it too. I'll give you the exhaust manifold, as I am going to have to do that at some point, though I guess you could argue that it's...
