get a tool thats like a hair comb that straightens those fins, but given its new then absolutely send it back for a replacement, but if it was already fitted to a car id just straighten them
Yeah there is apparently a reset procedure of disconnecting the battery, reconnecting, turning ignition on for 30 seconds, off for 30 seconds then it relearns over a few driving cycles, but i think it might be internet Chinese whispers as there is no relearn process on the diag machine for the...
The plot thickens.
original throttle body was sticky and clicking thru its motion - replaced it and binned it
the replacement felt nice, but now seems it doesnt want to auto close (sticking at 46% and causing a high revving, when it does finally close it stays slightly open causing a 1500rpm...
Pouring with rain today but i did get some diagnostic time inside the car! (not under the bonnet!)
Im getting an active code that wont clear for Motorised throttle unit control values outside limits. and i can see some historic codes that have cleared and not returned after a few cycles and...
No I don't think I was on those ones! i remember the days where there was meets almost weekly!
There was also a Falkirk meet in front of the, now migrant hotel that's always on the news 😂
Picked it up from the garage, drove perfect the full way home, stalled it outside the house and went to re start it and it done this, turned it off, then started again to film the video, went to get the diagnostic machine, running normally no codes found.
runs perfectly on 4 cylinders when...
Cant see the throttle body when its doing its 4500rpm revving as I cant replicate it, I've tried to dummy an emissions test on the drive but couldn't get it to do it.
the MOT tester said he thought possibly an air leak, ill attack the engine bay with a can of brake cleaner when I've collected...
I've got a problem with my sisters (no!) Twingo 1.2 16v currently, pretty much identical mechanically to a mk2 1.2 16v Clio.
she's owned it for years, gave very little issues, it went for an MOT last month, the test station abandoned the MOT as during emissions it started uncontrollably revving...
Apologies I've not worked on a 172 for years, I done a compression test on a 197 last week and had to remove the throttle body which is why it was fresh on my mind!
Open the throttle or remove the throttle body for your compression test.
The induction noise was the first thing I noticed at idle on my RSI when I lost compression on 2 cylinders.
Thats the boy, it was available on the mk3 clios, but works on the update list in a mk2.
yeah as far as i know no expert menu on the model with the screen on the face, you want the unit without a screen that uses your big screen on top of the dash
Yeah that screen is fine they are all the same, just yours isnt displaying everything. Get yourself an update list CD player and ebay aux cable or Renault TunePoint (read from a usb stick etc) and you are good to go
Do you have the top screen on top of the dashboard with the clock?
if so you will need an update list head unit with no screen, that will have the AUX option in the menu.
If you have the screen above then the wiring is all the same so will work as normal.
You then just plug the "ebay" aux...
I fitted febi inner ARB bushes in my RSI and they were worse than the originals by the 2nd MOT, couldn't believe it! When it's a Kent of a job to fit them, fit and forget, go power flex 😂
must be either oil leaking somewhere or an oil breather disconnected, I'm not familiar with the 1.2 tce in the mk4 but have a look at the oil breather pipework, see if any are disconnected
i found a set of really good condition genuine ph1 172 springs in the garage, i had tried to sell these but had absolutely no interest, the 1.2 had a couple of broken springs so i thought id give them a shot to see how they looked. - Stuck a cheap set of ph2 172 16" wheels on it too 😂
Can we get a re run of the original stickers the same as the current header logo?!!! Used to proudly rock mine and ive just bought another black 1.2 16v for the nostalgia!
Can't believe I've never seen this thread. It's funny I was never a fan of arctic blue when they were new but now I absolutely love it. Standard wheels and splitter, the way it left the factory, love it!
Good work. The older I get the more I appreciate an escort too 😂😎
