I sold one with 60k on it, to buy one with 170k on it. The latter was quicker, more powerful & generally in better condition.
It also cost a third of the price.
Massively expensive!!!! Id say £2k over.
You'll take a right bath on that if you want rid in 6 months time Poobah, id be wanting an '05 for that sort of cash tbh.
£8k max for an '03 imho, especially as ull only have 9 months left on the 10year subframe 'warranty' from BMW.
You buy a 1.2, you take sh1t.
You join Cliosport, you take more sh1t.
Your post count gets a little higher, you take less sh1t.
Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere of Trophy ownership and you've forgotten what sh1t even looks like.
Welcome to the layer cake.
Nah, was nothing wrong with it, dyno'd at 240bhp on SRR iirc. Most of my mileage (well up until this week) was sat at 80-90 mph on my private motorway, & i never got more than 29mpg out of the ed30, similar to the R32. Big turbo on the Ed30 didnt help at those speeds/revs, the Gti ive borrowed...
Part of the reason why i just went for the R32, all the good bits are standard ;)
By the time you've specced up the Golf, you might as well just pay the extra fuel on the proper engined one.
You never driven a 911 i assume? Where all the weight is out over the back wheels?
Tbh, the clio is fun whether its working perfectly well or knackered. The Trophy does suffer from understeer on the limit, so with additional weight in the boot and/or more camber on the front/stiffer rear end...
Looks lovely, does need an RNS510 though ... oh, and a remap ;)
Also, it might be worth your while pulling one of the wheels of the check the part numbers, they dont look genuine to me, offset seems slightly wrong and the colouring is way off (unless they've been refurbed). The Goodride tyres...
Is it wrong that i used to drive the Trophy around with 1 knackered rear damper, 3 ton of tools in the boot & whiteline set to 'f*cking stiff' all the time just to get this wonderful effect?
About the same as an M3 tbh, circa 27-29mpg on the motorway at a real 75-80mph - bear in mind that the Golf speedo overreads by 10%, the e46 less than 5%, so you always think that you are going faster than you actually are in the Golf. My average over 10k miles is 28.3mpg, although it will drop...
Can you not just add it as a tempporary car to your main insurance policy? Thats what ive always done in the past - usually up to 28 days at a time. I've also noticed that you can have a taxed, but uninsured car on your driveway for over a month without getting any letters about it, so i...
You'll forgive me if i carry on calling this one the 'RaceCup' instead of the 'TrackCup', otherwise ill just get confused with Ollies.
Looks good though Nicholarse, bet it runs better with an air filter on it as well ;)
Proper car that whilst dated is still just blooming awesome.
Amazing how the e39 just shrinks around you when driving as well!!
Something special about an ///M. Made me look at breadvans again ffs.
