    New computer

I could build you a hell of a machine for that - absolutely silent and will run mid-range games. Alternatively I could build a monster but it wouldn't be silent. Lol. PM me if you're interested with what sort of thing you'd be looking for, as my company may be able to sort you out. We do...

    Lap top help...

Probably better off rebuilding it from scratch. It got XP Home or XP Professional (flip it on it's arse and have a look on the sticker)? You'd need to back everything up but I could do you a disc that could install all your drivers for you.

    Wiring a sub

I suppose so, but I'm running a 13W7 so need to tow Chernobyl around to run that! Math and explanation makes sense and I'm very aware that subs can be run on much less than people expect - although I didn't think as little as 20w RMS would do! Mine I know runs 1200w RMS when I crank it up...

    Wiring a sub

Fair enough - didn't know they'd started fitting full-blown crossover circuits to them. However, I still don't think 20w RMS is enough to run a sub - but as highlighted above it would 'work'.

    Wiring a sub

Possible to make it 'work', but it doesn't mean it would work well. I don't think the 9855R runs a low pass filter - they all tend to run High pass filters, except for the 'Sub Out' channel which occasionally runs an adjustable low pass filter. Definately a stupid idea to spend ANY amount of...

Yep, the one with the four big pushpins - should be the biggest heatsink/fan in the case. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-031-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821&name=Akasa%20AK-955%20CPU%20Cooler%20(Socket%20LGA775) That'd do you.

Likely to be CPU cooler knackered then - strip it off, clean the CPU down and get an aftermarket one for £20 with the s**t already on it and that should fix it. The ASRock 775V88+ doesn't have NB fan.

help needed with VGA to TV port gone funny :(

I'd have said bent pin but 15-pin D-SUB cables from device to display are always male-male, so if you change that you change any bent pins. Colour profiles would be my next suggestion. Try another device with it also, and the laptop on another screen.

    Laptop Vs Computer (Poll)

Desktop (I'm taking a server counts more as a desktop than a laptop?!) as I've got the choice between media editing on a quad-Xeon DL580 or a dual-core 2.6Ghz laptop. Guess which wins.

Downgrade your one 2003 user to XP, much better to have a corporate standard mate... Their 2003 licence will allow this.
