I had a similar problem with mine even second started to play up took it to renault as it was still under warranty and although not covered they replaced the gearbox oil with semi-synthetic stuff and this has cured the problem for me, must be worth a try surely wouldnt cost much

i had a similar problem on mine it was a real bast*rd to get it to go into 1st and second when approaching junctions i had the gearbox oil changed for semi synthetic stuff under warranty and this has cured it (touch wood) so far might be worth a try for only small change see if it works
