    Sounds like a tractor

The tractor is fixed, 2p short of £250. still I know the cambelt is now OK along with the plugs, oil, coolant & air filter. damned expensive way to get a service though. On the way home i realised I must service it more often, didn't realise how much the power was down and on a 1.2 that is...

    Sounds like a tractor

    Sounds like a tractor

Well I've sussed the problem, the other half told me that a light was flashing on the dash this morning. Turned out to be coolant level. So it's not the plugs as 1st thought, it's the chuffing head gasket. My friendly mechanic did a compression test and its blown between 2 & 3. This happenned...

    Sounds like a tractor

My 99 1.2 Mk2 sounds like a tractor on start up (feels like it too), cold and even when it's only stood for a few mins. After a couple of blips of the go pedal it evens out and runs clean. Crazy washers

Don't do as i did, get it all reassembled and then find that when you refill the washer bottle, that you've forgotten to transfer the rubber seal to the new unit (there isn't one in the box). It leaks every where if you don't. Haynes say you have to...

    Crazy washers

Yup, pump is stuffed, nothing coming out of pipes. Annoying because I only replaced it this time last year:( Ho hum off to the dealer again, good job he's on the way to work;)

    Crazy washers

I'll give that a go, all though would a blocked pipe in the front force the flow to the rear? Not sure how the system is set up, is there a valve in the system? As far as I know there is only one pump in the bottle, I know because I changed one last winter when it siezed up

    Crazy washers

:S Nice cruddy day diving to work, thought I'd wash the lorry spray off the glass but no joy. I can hear the pump going and blades are sweeping but no spray. By chance I noticed that the rear washer jet was running despite switching on the front. OK thought I'd try the rear option and that works...
