mileage aside, as I said above its a proper minter in the flesh, I bought it blind on eBay and couldn't believe my eyes when I got it home and saw it in the sunlight the next day!!
I know a lad who works for the forces and they required 2 new defenders to replace old ones, applied for funding for them or what ever is required and it got rejected, but they have no budget for maintenance so his boss said ok go and order 2 of everything required for a defender and they built...
2k jesus, yeah I paid £970 for it then sold it on for £1500, it's a brilliant wee car for under £1500, I put a wee bit of cash into it and it's a good spec
that's a dci 106 with the 6 speed box, more expensive road tax on them £120 from memory, the mk3 in general is 10mpg worse off like for like driving conditions *GOING BY THE TRIP COMPUTER* not so sure real life but not quite as good.
however they are generally a bit more reliable fuel system...
remapping is fine if you use a company with a good reputation, suppose its the same with all cars these days! ive had 3 mapped DCi's and they have all drove so much better, giving better economy!
my 65 felt faster than my 1.2 16v, It probably wasn't and just the torque that made it feel that way but as a daily it had no problem keeping up with traffic, you just didn't find yourself on the wrong side of the road overtaking 5 cars at once lol
I had a 100, eventually running 130hp/190lbft and it was proper fast for what it was and done 60mpg easily daily.
ive got an 80 running 110hp/175lbft at the moment, its a better daily to be honest, but id have either or, don't rule out a good 80 and go for a ropey condition 100.
my mate has a...
This!, Last time I had an AMD was an Athlon XP!!
actually I tell a Lie I have an AM1 Quad core Athlon 2.1GHz in my HTPC and I cant wait to replace it, but I'm too tight to until ive had 12 months out it!
tbh they don't rust so everything else is fixable, as long as its not a crash damaged wreck.
I bought a heap for £800 couple of years ago, spent a grand on it and it drove like new!
they are good out the box on track so id look at buying cheap, spend £500-£1000 getting it driving as it should...
epic purchase looks the part!
I'm quite surprized at that given the engine!, that's my opinion of my 197 when jumping in from the Trophy, I thought this would be a different animal!
not had much time to update this, not much has changed. Manifold flexi burst so got a good condition manifold from a Clio 200, swapped them over and stuck a new lower engine mount to remove any excess play as I had a feeling this could be the culprit that had caused the manifold to fail, so that...
my 200 cup was terrible, I felt it was too stiff for the road, R27 is perfect though, stiff yes but not overly stiff, ive heard the ride in the new 200t is ment to be really good but not sure if that's cup or not
surely even with the cup pack they are no where near as stiff as the 197/200, the ride on our diesel one is fantastic, silky smooth! I drove a GT one and it was the same
I like the K4M its a cracking engine, like a mini 172 in the way they drive, ours was never the same after a cambelt change so timing is key on them
id be looking to stick the RS version from the twingo in, they rally these engines in the twingo R2 etc so plenty parts.
altho in hindsight...
haha yeah, they days of driving like that are long gone for me but yeah, ESP off, enter wide roundabout far too fast, flick it in and snap off the throttle and get ready to catch it!!!
the r27 is a much nicer place to be, my trophy has less miles and drives like it just left the factory but...
ah cool that could save quite a bit then instead of having to buy a bootlid and paint etc! ill do a search!
the 197 is very planted mid corner where the trophy is lively, in a fun way, not a nervous way. I wouldn't say either is better than the other the trophy is probably the better backroad...
really needs a good detail as in the flesh the trophy colour looks miles better but the 197 is just a bit flat looking it should polish up nicely as I remember them when they were new!!
I'm looking at getting a 200 rear bootlid with GT spoiler for it and probably a 200 diffuser
I never got to...
Bullet proof! Better fuel system than the mk2, the usual diesel stuff like injectors and fuel pumps can still play up but nothing specific to the Clio to worry about
cheers mate, I'm loving it, don't worry no cup spoilers going on!! just going to keep it standard and enjoy it!
cheers mate, id have to agree with you, trophy is my favourite!
not had time to update this!! picked it up a week ago, recaro repaired to an amazing standard, looks like it left the factory!, ding fully removed, scratch on bumper repaired to a fantastic standard - great start!!!
new hub fitted to one side as it failed an mot, other side was fine and looking...
