Why ? The only time I've ever had it interfere in a Clio was round the last corner at Brands at 70+ after a load of concrete got put down following a fluid spill. Not really worth worrying about is it ?!

Gearbox earth strap busted or not even attached..? 10mm wide copper strap.. get under and have a look ! Passenger side IIRC Search on here will give you about 40,000 results. To prove it out, jump lead from gearbox to battery negative and see if it starts.....

Exactly this. Some car soap in a spray bottle with some warm water... Soft stuff is less harsh FYI.. think BH do 2/3 grades. Harder = more aggressive = more marring etc.
