Ah like I said the same thing I managed to do, but mine was on standard 120k+ mounts all round..
I'm guessing you probably have but did you chang the bottom gearbox mount as mine was very worn and I think that certainly didn't help matters..

Which part of the gearbox mount did you break the "stud" type part as I did the same going over the crest of "the Mountain" at Cadwell park..
Also which mount was it as I have some Vibratechnics ones to fit but not so sure now..
I found it night and day going from road to track tyres.
Just the speed you could carry through the corners alone!
Also imo I don't really see a hassle in having a second set of wheels for track days, 10 mins of the day and guarantees you have legal rubber to get home on.
But like you...
I would get a 2nd hand engine too fit personally.
Had my Aux belt go and make the cambelt jump and cost me getting on towards 1k to get it all fixed at a garage with me getting the parts..
