Have you tried a quote without your dad as policy holder? My 200 is around £900 (im 20 with a few accidents) and its in my name. In my dads name the same quote was a shade over 4k....

In my experience, whacking the excess up made less difference than they are charging for those premiums! As for not having to pay unless your at fault. If there is any dispute you need to shell out. I had no option to pay my excess to get my car back after I was hit by a 3rd party. After 2...

Unless you are buying a top end machine, I wouldn't bother waiting. If you can manage on an 6 year old mac, then even the lowest spec current model will whoop its ass!! If you kept waiting for the 'latest' technology you'd never buy anything.
