They just clip in - easiest way to get the old ones off is to just pull hard if you don't want to keep them!
If you do then you'll have to unclip them from behind.
Check for any cracks in the bonding between the rear quarters and the roof under the roof strips - I had a similar problem parking the other way - I had a tiny pin hole in one side of mine that was letting water in.
I've bought every mk1, in every colour - get two near identical maxi's lol the v6 a 172, got the Talbot sunbeam to get when they offer it!

K-tec stealths are loud and heavy.
Only aftermaket exhaust for a 172 I would now consider is a yozza stealth.
My standard system lasted for 8 years - not exactly a choc fireguard!
Look after them and they will last longer than you think!

The tread punches through the fabric still - you still see the full tyre pattern in the snow while driving with them on - if anything you gain an extra couple of mm of tread with the fabric acting as an extention.
