try going to start, prog files, acessories. then i think its called system retore under xp. click restore to a previous point or sommet and have a look on the day you did the uninstalling on the calender and see if there is anything labelled for audio.

Just thinking aswell. If you have un installed something important for the auido then the system would have probably created a restore point automatically.

well does it state the device is working properly???. also you can go to the driver tab and then update the driver via windows update.
