If it’s been parked up for a while, there’s every chance you have a corroded ABS ring. They can play havoc.

Have you considered renting a garage? My mate at work has just rented one through an agent, £85pcm and it’s big enough to fit his 6 series in there plus a bit of storage behind it. I think that’s really good value.

An aftermarket cat will only last 2/3 years at most. There’s a reason they’re cheap. Can you not take your OE cat to an exhaust place and get them to chop and weld it with a new flange?
