When i first got my valver over a year ago it came with an aftermarket imobiliser but i only got one key. Ideally id like to remove it a reinstate the OE one but can anyone tell me how easy this would be to do myself - its wired into the ignition barrel lead as far as i can tell so would i be...
Williams is the superior car no question there...but it comes at a higher purchase and insurance cost. If you can afford one, get one but if you can be arsed with the hassle of converting a 1.8 to the similar spec then itll be cheaper and arguably better IMO.
It does seem that a lot of the new renaults spend a lot of their time in the garage but a lot of the the problems seem to be down to nigles rather than actual problems. IMO these nigles are things id probably put up with if they occurred to my valver (maybe why i find the moaning of mk2 owners...
Mmmm...lovely cold weather...not!
Fired up the valver this morning to get a reading of -3 degrees and find that my main gauges acting up (petrol not working, water, rev and speedo sluggish). Surely the coldest its been in ages (must have been bad during the night tho)...anyone had worse so far??
You will not be able to use the whole megane engine as it uses a different kind of ignition (forget exact details) so youll just need the bottom end coupled to your head (if undamaged) or another williams head or a 1.8 head. if you do a search for 2ltr conversions on valvers, the posts should...
True but then again the 182 is the pinacle of the current clio platform, much like the williams was to the previous platform, which kinda makes it the one to have out of all the mk2 variants. Buying new, the cup would be the cheapest way to experience the performance of this edition.
Fair enough - as i said, different people will want different things. From my viewpoint, ive modded everycar ive owned and could easily see myself doing the same if a got a 182. The £900 or so saved could fix a lot of issues i have giving me something id persoanlly enjoy more than a non-cup 182...
No offence but as an unbiased owner (drive a valver) that its just a cheap 182 seems like a bit of snobery - at the end of the day, its got the same performance, looks the same but costs less. Depends what you want, if it was me id rather buy the cup and spend the 900 or whatever saved on...
I dont think you get leather interior and all other goodies with the cup but then again, that didnt seem to bother the peeple who bought the original. Like for like between the two, the cup is cheaper as well isnt it?
Well, i went front a valver with new std shocks to fitting the willy track (using the same lowering spring) and the difference is tremendous. You push it far harder in a way you wouldnt dare with the 16v...perhaps it inspires a bot too much confidence sometimes...
Id be interested to...
Nope, certainly not - too many crashes and too many t**sers down there to risk my car getting damaged. I suppose most towns have boy racer areas like it but Aberdeen beach has to be one of the worst. Besides that, i wrote off my old R5 down there so bad memories! :(
IIRC std limited is 6900 so yours has probably been chipped. Mine has a HP chip and ive had it beyond 7500, tho some of that is probably down to an inaccurate counter.
Gutting story m8 but id have to say noones really to blame - sounds like your engine was on its way out anyway but the operator probably shouldnt have pushed it that far (as said it wouldnt be making anymore power and you did mention it didnt limit?). If it was me id put it down to experience -...
Personally speaking id follow the instructions bedding it in as theyre there for a reason. People have got a way with ragging it (a testiment to a strong engine design) but there will always be the exception - even if renault did fix any breakage its a small consolation when youre without youre...
Well, I view these vaux engines the same as willy lumps (tend to make more power than quoted and a similar design) - given the reports of std willys on here being comparable with 172s then IMO its believable the same would apply to the vaux. However, like all cars you get good and bad ones...
I have a mate with a shed of a 2ltr astra (by that i mean no locks, dented panels, broken window etc) and it convincing RAPED my other m8s 106 GTI over a 20mile stretch. Like what the chap above said, a good example would be comparable....165-odd bhp is only a few bhp down on the clio at the end...
Id be gutted yes but as i said, people will always try to get away with stuff like that. I know ive done invalidating mods at some point (like most on here id bet) but been lucky enough to get away with it - if the other person involved hasnt then i wouldnt feel too entitled to start a war about...
