Buy brembo's from G 172 on here. Also, as per the ABS ring, take a blow torch to the old disc, heat it up, take it off (with plier's) keep heating it and drop it on the new disc, as it cools it'll settle. Problem solved.

Road tax is f**k all on any car really. It's a drop in the ocean for car ownership.

Moving from a 197 to a 182 is not a money saving move. Outside the MPG it's about the same to run, the brembo anchors are dearer but a drop in the ocean. Tax is the same and insurance wont be much different i wouldn't suspect. A 1.1 Saxo is a saving!

Had the same thing, earth strap at the chassis leg to gearbox would be my diagnoses.

Good work on keeping it that long! There's an owner on here who's had his 172 Cup since new (2002) that now has a Megane RS engine in!

I just sold my Exclusive (Number 002) to a fellow member(s) and loved it. As Dan said its very much an aquired taste, but i'd have another no problem - the Scarab paint is superb when clean! Fettled was mine, though :o As for sought after... I doubt it...

In honesty, the difference is all about preference. I've had four RS Clio's. A Phase 1 172, a cup packed 182, a Phase 1 172 Exclusive and at current a 172 Cup. I love the fact it returns 35mpg. I also love that after 5 years of Renault Sport ownership when i boot it onto a motorway up to 90mph...
