Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
I'd give Andy at ring at K-Tec mate, iirc he said the induction change unlocked another 11bhp.........but i'd ring him to make sure it wasn't my old age earing aid failing.

Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Clearly I've been educated that it's not the map and it's the cam profile causing the torque drop at 3.5k, lol. I have to profess, I'm no expert hence me not doing the work!
It does drive well, and the power comes through strong when called on. It was due to be at...
Yep, i'm well chuffed. Would have been mighty fecked off had I spent the cash and popped out with 180 bhp! Get yours in for some mechanical TLC at some point mate, and i suspect it will spit out a good figure as it seemed pretty strong despite the lean running / smokyness......
Both cars look good, as ever guys, give me a shout next time and i'll bring the flamer around. Dan's RB is spotless everytime I see it at work!
Dan - still got your axle stands mate, you not been in work / get my email? Flamer got cams at the wkd, and spat out 197 bhp / 167 Lb ft afterwards on...
I don't think K-tec were feeding you 'needing new rings' from a performance perspective, it was more in relation to the puffs of blue smoke appearing out of the back....
But, mine was the other one running lean from the generic map, like yours. As you know I left mine in for cams and a remap...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Yeah, the remap has sacrificed some lower end torque, but its not horrifically noticeable. I suppose i'll need to be hovering at 4k if I am in a mood to be making progress....plus it has pushed torque up slightly at 3k.
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Cheers mate. Yep, i'm glad it seems to be a strong one, but even I was surprised it got up to the high 190's. Drives excellently, had a smile all the way home. Get saving for the ITB's now....
Got my flamer back from K-Tec today after the work I left it for (12k service, mounts, cams and remapping). With the 438 cams and mechanical TLC from Mike and some free of charge custom induction kit creation from Andy, coupled to the mapping, got me a rise from 174.8 bhp / 156 lb ft to 197 bhp...
Guys, got mine back from K-Tec today after the work I left it for. They have outdone themselves this time. With the 438 cams and mechanical TLC from Mike and some free of charge custom induction kit creation from Andy, coupled to the mapping, got me a rise from 174.8 bhp stock / 156 lb ft to a...
Re: Cub 172's Flamer Project
Right, update time. I took the Flamer to the South West RR day on Saturday. It ran 174.8 bhp and 157.6 lb ft. The graph should be below. I was happy with the figure as it was in need of some mechanical TLC (12K service, and cam / aux belt & dephaser).
I left the...
Well, half of me thinks I'm glad they have courtesy cars, even if they are 16 year old plodders. The other half of me thinks, the money I'm dropping could buy me another 172 to drive home in! To be fair, they have always gone the extra mile for me, so I'll let them off making me look like a...
Mine (stock bar the exhaust and a generic JMS map) ran:
174.8 bhp @ the fly
148 bhp @ the wheels
157.6 Max Torque.
As I said, happy with it given i've left it with them for cambelt change and was in need of some mechanical TLC, and 438 cams.
Yeah, I 'peaked' at 73 on the M3........and it caused me a few 'interesting' moments getting used to the extra braking distance needed.....
Oh well, pick mine up Tuesday hopefully.
Great day guys, cheers for organising Will. I was happy with mine, considering it is stock bar the exhaust.
Shame I had to go early without seeing Toms or the Meg run!
I managed to get home in the 'plodder' they have given me whilst mine is in for 438's........
Re: let us see pictures off your old cars you owned
The 997 wasn't me, but I got the 996 C4S in my list when I was 27. To be honest, I wouldn't do it again. It was an ambition, and I realised it and ticked the box, but took a lot of saving, then suffered a lot of depreciation and although it...
Looks largely for me, although the wider track is supposed to help slightly. If they have stuck solid on to the hub, then someone didn't put enough copper grease on.......
Beaten to it by half an hour, but yes, the other item is Goodridge Braided brake lines as per MonkeyKnifeFight's post;
GDR = Manufacturer code; Goodridge
SRN0403-04c = Product code; the brake lines shown above.
Something really childish. Like Colonel Wetpants. Or Horatio Pumpysniff. Or something that would get annoying everytime you killed someone, like 'a baked bean'. If it kept coming up 'you were killed by a baked bean' every 30 seconds i'd start getting annoyed. But, that might just be me and my...

1st Car - The humble Metro 1.1C no less...
2nd Car - Rover 114 Gta
Lived in London for a bit, so had no car.
Then bought this in 225bhp form;
Then this R53 John Cooper Works;
Then a 911 (996 C4S), piccie here up in the lakes...
I'm in for convoy, but can we do a secondary pick up closer to the A303 as i'll cut across that way from Reading way. If its too much hassle i'll just meet you all there. Car sounds like a bag of spanners at the moment though as it needs its dephaser and solid engine mounts (which its being left...
I would have been up for this, split my time between Tower Bridge office and Reading. Unfortunately though, being such a high roller (lol), I'm actually in our Washington office in the US that week. I'd be interested in wider London meets in a pub though, as mentioned above i'm up in town quite...
