Sure my UK cup rims are ET48.5 same as the evo 2001 rims. :S The anthracite 'off the shelf' ones in ET43 are around 3kg heavier too - slightly thicker spoke design.

Was thinking more along the lines of machining the bolt seats on the front of the flange to correspond with the revised angle on back rather than using shims. Presumably just elongate the bolt holes to account for the revised seating angle? Can totally see where you're coming from Si and was...

If this is the case hasn't anybody machined the face plate? Presumably theres enough material to realign the mounting holes?

Stiffness is a spring rate issue though surely? Shim stack adjustment would only alter rate of transfer wouldn't it? You experimented much with the rear platform height/rake on yours Sam or you had it corner weighted and just left it as is?

Sam, If the 350-400lb/in wheel rates as suggested are suited to a clean/consistent surface would it be worth factoring in a little more compliance for surface imperfections/grip levels that you'd presumably be encountering on tarmac stages? Steve/evogone would presumably be best placed to...
