ok, just did a test and it looks like the tag alerts aren't working if they are in the OP (i.e. when creating a new event). Quickest solution for now is to post the event and then post a second post in the event thread with the tags in.

It definitely created the alerts then, you can see in the database screenshot below, 3 tag alerts, one for each of our userid's
