I think it's down to centre of gravity, @dann2707's COG is basically in line with the wheels, where as a full hight person will be closer the window.

As for how hard can it be? Well it depends on the kit. A cheap welder will be less precise and make things harder. No need to go balls deep on something mega, but I'd definitely be looking at second hand on marketplace or ebay first.

Got some magnetic shims for spacing whilst welding. Expensive but should make jigging up a lot easier. Whilst ordering I thought it'd be rude not to get some more clamps.

If you're looking at mechanic's tools and general hand power tools I'd stick with Milwaukee. If you're doing bench works and big free standing tools / chop saws etc then go for Makita.
