It was just adjustment mate really. I managed to fine tune it to be flawless. They're weird on spherical bearings anyway.

Put the key in the ignition. Lock it and unlock it on the fob. Lock it and unlock it on the button in the car. Turn the key all the way round to just before cranking and leave it there for 5 minutes. Then go back, and do the same again but holding the central locking button. Then try crank it.
