For some reason the exhaust got held up for 3 days in France, but, it turned up today. Nearly a week and a half of driving the mk2 Fabia VRS. Think I put more miles on it in that time than I have in the 6 months.
Quality looks great out of the box though we will see how it looks after a few...
No such car as a renault 5 gordini turbo 1 or gordini turbo 2. Gordini turbo and turbo1/2 are different cars. One has the engine up front the turbo1/2 were homologation specials with the engine in the back
I was asked a while back if I wanted to be in a a YouTube video, with the car constantly being worked on it wasn't always on the road and available. Things aligned last week though and Will from Resto Revival popped down and we had a little chat.
Ffs... if it's not one thing it's another.... so on the weekend it was noted that there was quite the exhaust rattle. Assumed it was the heat shields falling off in typical Renault fashion (they are)
Driving to work this morning it seemed a tad louder, just assumed it was in my head.
Driving...
Made a start on what was meant to be a quick job. New rear discs and pads. Though when I got there initially I found I didn't have a big enough socket. For future its a 36mm (cheers @DaveL485)
Roll on the next day when I borrowed the correct socket, cracked on with no major issues bar the state...
So a little wrap up of the day. Top line power mapping resulted in pretty much the same peak power it already had (high 60s low 70s), all the bottom and midrange stuff was where we gained everything and not just on full throttle.
Driveability is hugely improved and the engine itself seems...
Had mine nearly 2 years, awesome daily and track hack. Slapped a big turbo and a load of bolt on nearly straight away. shave over 300bhp no major issues to note. I cover about 35-55 miles a day in it and averages around 34/36mpg, shave over 40mpg on a run though.
That's just a rubber trim doubt its that at all as the whole lot comes out easily and isn't a proper seal.
I also have a whistle when I go over 50. I've put it down to the windscreen needing resealing, which can wait until I get a big stone chip....
The replacement ecu is on and we are running very well. As its running a base map it didn't take too long to set it up again. Managed to get out and about for some testing and all is good so far after completing about 10 miles. Need to get some more done this week before mapping on the 28th
The way mine gets driven its low 30s over all circa 50miles a day, half driven on cruise control the other with total disregard for fuel economy. Will do 40 on a gentle run. Do a track day and its be in the teens to low 20s (I do have a hybrid turbo on)
They have really dropped on prices! I thought mine was a reasonable price at near 10k not far off 2 years ago. I really like them, one of the best all round RS Renaults I've owned. The flame red is a really good colour too when fresh (reminds me mine needs a proper clean and polish again soon)
Made a big dent on the "paint" issue today. Not that pretty but it'll do. Chassis also seems to be galvanised and I could only see 1 spot smaller than a 5p that had started to go, main damage was actually under the engine mount. When I next get the car up in the air ill do similar from the...
Driving along recently and I had a brake system fault warning ping up. Having had it before I assumed it just needed a fluid top up. I wasn't wrong but it looks like the cap has been leaking too. First I noticed a brackets paint peeling, then I looked further down and the same is happening to...
