    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Every MX5 I see recently is driven by some melty neck beard with massive spacer holes in their ears and a cloud of vape pouring out to cover up the exhaust smoke from the 6" pipe out back.

Updates. CSF done and dusted. Started with a 6 Hour journey to get to Anglesey which was awful. Heavy traffic with paddle clutch, bosch 044 fuel pump whine, side exit exhaust drone and ds1.11 pads squealing under light braking does not make a relaxed drive. Only fun part of the journey was the...

Instead of getting shims made, get them modified... unless you can already buy shims off the shelf?

...however they weld to the original subframe area which I have cut out so wouldn’t be able to weld it in for shafts to clear from gearbox end etc. 5) potentially have to weld in top plates from PMS if I require to change castor of upright. I want to do everything possible to not use huge spacers.

    Monaco 172 Track Car

...tbh 😂 I think they're something daft like ET25, they were custom made by Braid to whoever spec'd them. I reckon they'd be perfect without any spacers, except they just catch my brakes ever so slightly At one point I thought my OS driveshaft started to click it's c**t off but it was just...

    Keeper 182 Project

I have decided to stick with the Clio, despite it not doing many miles (sub 150 so far this year!) At this point nothing else at this price point interests me and really think id miss it if I let it go. So took it out today for a good hard blast to see if it would break, & it didn't & had a...

Wondering about how much the handling differs with cup suspension with coilovers vs non cup with coilovers

dare to be different 😊 With the state of our roads, I doubt you’ll notice much difference, unless you have a particular set of driving skills. If not, you’ll likely end up in a ditch - cup suspension or non cup 😂 I’m sure in testing, Renault engineers found some improvement over the non cup...

Wondering about how much the handling differs with cup suspension with coilovers vs non cup with coilovers

Yeah you're right actually but it's only a 20mm difference, set of spacers will sort that.

Wondering about how much the handling differs with cup suspension with coilovers vs non cup with coilovers

...of posts, i am starting to feel like a made a big mistake in not buying one with the cup suspension. I wanted to put coilovers on my 182 and spacers for fast road/odd trackday and i am wondering what is the difference in handling between a cup suspension 182 with coilovers vs a non cup...

    Spacers 'guide'/info

different camber adjustment between left and right photo. I guess the advantage is that the wheel runs a bit further away from the BC strut, but if you run spacers that doesn't matter actually as there's no chance of rubbing

182 Cup Front End into Mk1 Valver

My rear is stock MK1 as never felt the need to change it, just with 10mm hubcentric spacers per side and a custom fitment white line rear arb which frankly don't think really does much

182 Cup Front End into Mk1 Valver

Anyone done this before? I'm looking for advice to make I've got everything I need and have thought of everything. Parts I'm planning to use: JC5 Gearbox Cup 182 Driveshafts (which ones fit?) Bridgecraft roll centre and bump steer hubs (are these ok with the valver subframe and steering rack?)...

    Chris's 172 Cup Turbo

Yes from memory, this is exactly the setup/order. I didn’t realise there were two types of top mount until researching this past week. Every 172 I’ve owned has already had the updated design without the spacer but. Cheers

    KTec front strut brace fitting

Yeah. The top part is effectively a large spacer, so your brace will do the same job. I think that's the only way you can fit it. I don't know what's happened to that company, but it's properly gone down hill over the last few years. Maybe lost some good staff during covid. They have some...

    “Charlotte” The 182 FF

Thats why I put off the correction kit in some respects, i'd looked at them but didn't fancy open bearings and winter. I was on Grams and cup shocks as well before the coilovers never had an issue but then I only had a spare wheel in the boot 😄

    “Charlotte” The 182 FF

I was on grams springs and cup shocks, lovely combo but quite low. Spacers front and rear as well and on track he front rubs and with the boot loaded up with wheels and tools the rear rubs 😂 My main goal is to see how the handling changes with quite supple springs and the front suspension not...

    “Charlotte” The 182 FF

I was until recently dailying mine as it is. Wasn't too bad on the road tbh and never rubbed on the arches on the 16s, rubs on the 15s on track but only under really heavy load at certain tracks. Mines quite a bit lower than stock and im running spacers front and rear.

Can you have too many spacers

Run one axle spacer, then a slip on to push it a little further if you need it Camber shims won't get you anywhere near the angle you would need

Can you have too many spacers

Hi guys I’ve fitted pms stub axle spacers wasn’t happy with one so put 2 on each side looks the stuff but when mates in the back and you corner hard or find a pot hole the wheel rubs quite bad on the arch wondering will camber shims solve the problem or should I just run with one each side ...
