Car is 12v. USB is 5v. You need to convert it. Thankfully the far east have this covered. I use them to power GoPros and dataloggers in track day cars, never had an issue. If you want it all the time, wire it to a permanent live, if you want it on ignition, then an ignition live, etc.

I used one for a rear view on the same day too, good value for ~£40. I just added a second cigarette lighter into the boot on an ignition live, so can just plug in a power adaptor for it on track days. Turns on with the car and starts recording, etc.
