Well mine only did it after the gen90 was fitted, so it’s either something internally not sending the power down command, or it’s a sticky relay imo.
Lol disconnect the hazard switch would be my first port of call and see what/if that changes anything.
UCH or dodgy relay would be my guess. My gen90 used to draw the battery down because something wasn’t shutting down properly , but I never got to the bottom of what the issue was, as the car was split for parts after it shat the driveshaft and cost me £2.5k at the Nurburgring. 😂
If you knock the shaft in, you’ve manually selected either 3rd or 1st gear, and I can confirm, they’re an absolute pain in the arse to get them back out. For me, it’s ultimately quicker to pull the lid off the box and reselect the gears manually.
But I rebuild jc5’s in my sleep. Lol!
Yeah it...
Ah sorry, misread! Yeah so the rods in the box - one will be higher than the other. You just need to make them both level, but don’t knock the rod in so it’s flush. Otherwise it’s a world of pain!
Ah ok. So the short shifters and jc5’s are a bit of a recipe for disaster anyway mate tbh. It just stresses the synchros, and they’re not the best as it is.
You should be able to take the end cover off again and manually take it out of 5th. May have to give the selector a wiggle to get things...
Yeah it was very highly regarded on DW from what I read.
Yeah he sold up to another fella, but he kept it going. I imagine he makes it in batches and waits for it to be sold out before making another, due to it having a shelf life.
Everyone I’ve told about it has bought it, applied it and...
Well that’s a bag of dicks if that is the case! I’d imagine they’ve probably run out though and are making another batch up, as it’s very popular.
One to give some consideration is Carbon Collective Ceramic Lite. From what’s been said, it’s another that’ll do 12 months, but I doubt it’ll be as...
Depending on how far you want to go, I can HIGHLY recommend SiRamik lustrous plus. It’s a graphene coating and according to the blurb, it lasts up to 12 months. All I did was prepped the car with Carpro essence and applied the SiRamik as per the instructions. It’s very similar to a ceramic...
Feynlab Hybrid Ceramic Detailer. Very good stuff and is meant to last up to 3 months. Can’t confirm if it does or it doesn’t as I use it every other wash on all the cars. Beads up well and adds depth to the shine though when applied. 👍🏻
Right ok. In that case, try and push the selector fork for 5th down all the way so it engages 5th, then manually lift it up. The selector lever under the box SHOULDN’T move. Let me know 👍🏻
Take the end cover off again and upload pictures showing all the shafts that are sat under the selector fork for 5th gear. The box won’t have failed in my opinion mate.
I reckon its sortable - I just need to see what else is going on inside that end cover mate 👍🏻
Yeah that’s the issue mate. Small screwdriver to manipulate the clip so the hub slides down, and you’re golden mate. The hub just needs to be level. 👍🏻
Hmm bit of a strange one that! At this point, the best thing to do is drain the gear oil, lower the gearbox off its mount and remove the end cover for 5th gear.
Take a picture and upload it in here so I can see what’s going on 👍🏻
Ah ok.
I just do the eps start up procedure using Ista mate, so the test module just does the bizzo for you.
My real concern here is if the rack has jumped on the drive somehow when the rack was moved to unstick the bush. There is absolutely no reason to do that, as you can pull the bush out...
Does bimmer link allow you to restart the steering calibration?
The official bmw way is to remove the power supply plug and the signal wire plug. You’re also measuring the play in the rack bush in microns - there’s a special tool for doing it that we use at work when we replace them.
For the...
If it was mine, I’d get the passenger side sorted and then just enjoy it mate.
I’d only get a full respray if you were gonna go down the route of full resto/concourse condition.
