Yes and its been well serviced all its life too, and particularly with me having 5w50 synthetic every 3 or 4 thousand miles. You can see in the last set of updates how good the cam lobes are, no scoring at all, the engine is very healthy and pulls great.
And now to the rather surprising news.
I've taken a deposit and the Vee will be going to a new home at the end of the month, assuming all goes to plan.
This will be the 3rd car this year I have sold (without even writing a for sale ad for any of them lol). I am still unsure how I feel about it...
800 Renaults at Losange Passion, me and my homie @rogerreno at the 21 display area
I didnt take many pics because 1)I was on track with the V6 and navigating the admin/language barrier was interesting, and 2) it was SWELTERING. 41 degrees at its hottest, absolutely brutal. The black tarmac...
Did a few road test miles and it was in fine form, really pleased with the work done. Not so pleased with the wallet rash from the spendy parts mind lol. I mean, at a garage i'm paying what, 3... maybe 4 grand for all this so I guess at my cost, around a grand, its not terrible.
We left for...
Somewhere in there I refitted the sump too, and changed the oil and filter, the filter is in a SHITE place on these and even with all my kit and oil filter sockets the easiest way to crank the old filter off is to hammer a screwdriver through it. Messy, but effective.
Then on to the front, new...
Other bank cleaning up
Was waiting for parts so also decided to do coils and plugs. Regretted that decision when I saw the bill! £225 for six coils and six spark plugs...eek. Ordered anyway then dropped the sump pan. Its exposed to the OSR arch and they rust on the corner so I wanted to get...
Inlet manifold off to access the rocker covers
Yuk. It happens though doesnt it, gaskets get old and hard over time, its 24 years old now so cant complain at service life (but I can at parts availability lol)
Covers removed with no major issues, the plastic rockers the gasket pulled out...
Heater blower wasnt working on any speed, its usually the thermal fuse in the resistor pack so I pulled that out and tested but it was OK (for a change). I mean, this isnt good because it means the issue will be infinitely harder to fix
Diagnosed the issue was in the slider switch...
Rear brakes cleaned up, not binding and not worn so just derusted.
Fuel filter changed out
New dipstick fitted as the hook was broken on the old one, red heatshrink to make it red again.
Boot catch wasnt working, so fixed that, the rod had come off the handle. 5 mins to fix, but satisfying.
On to the brakes, front calipers were binding so sourced some new ones.
Discs and pads didnt have much wear at all so cleaned up and hopefully will go again
Bled up and all...
Rinsed out the cooling system.
Over
and over
and over again
Then did the belts, and a bit of a clean up while I was there. Before
During
After - also fitted a good used tensioner, the bearings in the old one were worn.
Old PAS and Alt belt were not good.
Better - new...
This car has been around a few owners lately but now resides with Craig who contacted me for some support. It was (supposedly) running but idling at 2500rpm for a few seconds then stalling out.
It arrived on a truck - battery flat, no clutch pedal, obviously hadnt run in quite a while...
I dont suppose anyone came across a liquid yellow front tow eye cover late in the day at Cadwell did they? I usually take it out and put it in the glove box but its not there. I have ransacked the cars and no sign :(
From a MK4 220 trophy. I was at the far end of the pits near the toilet block...
Ha, 5 miles from me, 1.6 from my partners house.
I've got a fairly comprehensive setup if you ever need any kit, inc F4R locking tools, engine crane, blah blah blah.
These consoles come off very easily - just pull. Undo the wiring plugs and there you go. Unscrew the heater panel, unclip the vents.
Then grind off the metled tabs that hold the 3 panels together and prise apart to get to the silver edge trim. I use a high pressure airline to blow off most of...
I forgot to update this thread!
As a result of showing it at the NEC I got in touch with a very nice chap who saw it and long story short, he has bought it. Its with a very good owner and we are still in touch for bits and bobs. I'm very pleased its gone to what I am sure is a happy home to be...
Quick road test and all seemed good. So I serviced it, Air filter, Oil, Oil filter, Aux belt, gearbox oil, spark plugs...you know the drill.
Picked up a phase 2 gearknob so fitted that also (yes I know that stereo surround is on the list!)
Picked up a set of wheels with PS4's on for a...
I am no bodywork specialist but I was quite pleased with this.
With the skirt offered up
It will need smoothing and painting at a bodyshop, I can't paint for toffee.
I had already bought 2 doors for it for £80, one blue and one black. I couldnt find anything LY, its an RS colour only...
My partners son, lovely kid (well, man), driven a VW Fox since passing his test. We have done a couple of track days in my 220 and i've let him use it a couple of times on the road, he really seemed to like it. A lot. So I suggested we look at getting him one. Had a shop around and the ones...
THEN once road tested it got a full belt service; cambelt and tensioner, aux belt and tensioner, oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, glow plugs, fresh coolant and gearbox oil were already there from the rebuild.
Ive been driving it to make sure its reliable and somehow in a month I have...
Red RS seatbelts, and a red PH1 RS gear shifter
Had the wheels refurbed in gloss black, and a new windscreen fitted this week.
Had a few dash lights when I road tested it, spend a while confused why all the errors till I realised i'd bought the wrong profile tyres for the front, and...
Front end going back on
And kicked outside
Next up, the bloody typical silver peel on the centre console trim. The silver bit separates out with some patience and a die grinder
A lot of the silver blew off with an airline, the rest was sanded off and then primed, then 2-stage flame...
Into the garage with it for the inner wing repair. The wheel was pushed back into the arch too, with some superficial damage so I sealed and gravitex'd that as well.
Picking apart the spot welds
And a clean cut on the panel behind the damage
I chopped the repair panel off the...
Obviously by this point i'd changed the doors too, on the MK4 Clio this is piss easy. 3 nuts!
The knackered hub
New steering arms, spare wishbones from my parts stash with new balljoints, new discs and pads while I was there too
Then I treated and gravitex'd the replacement rad...
The broken windows both sides were covered in plastic but water still got in, as it does, and glass - horrible - so I stripped the inside out and binned the carpet. Had the other one from the breaker, no glass, no wet.
Seats were manky, took them to a mate for a steam clean. I did keep the...
Copart buy, my Mrs has always wanted a red car, so I had to oblige... and add a few extras :)
2015 1.5 DCi EDC with 69k on the odo, its the K9K diesel so will run forever and a day as long as its serviced.
CAT S front drivers side but the main chassis rail is straight, however its tweaked the...
