    Power Tool Perverts

Just google for a 9v dc 200Ma output power adapter with whatever jack you need, loads on eBay, Amazon etc. As already said tho you’ve potentially fried whatever your plugging this in to.

    Clio 1.5 dci timing issue.

I am but Its a 2016 plate car so may be some minor differences but the engine should be very similar. I've got a Sealey pin its 64mm long MOT1489.

    Clio 1.5 dci timing issue.

Currently changing the belt. Got the bottom crankshaft pin in and the engine won't rotate further. The cam shaft is roughly 10 degrees clockwise past the timing pin hole so even with adjustment on the pully bolts I can't get the pin in. I'm pretty certain it's on the original belt.

    Clio 1.5 dci timing issue.

So got the bottom pin in but the cam shaft pin will not line up it’s a pin width out clockwise. The tensioner concerns me but it runs fine so. 🤷‍♂️ Thoughts?

    MK4 k9k flywheel locking.

First question anyone got the workshop manuals for the 1.5? Preempting a tight pulley bolt does the flywheel have an access panel for the Renault locking tool or is it a starter motor off job?

    Yay, another problem!

Straightforward enough, some of the pipes are a pita to get off but if you don’t care about keeping them can just cut them.

    Lens sealer after 3M kit

They do but most of them only last for about a year. Figured ppf will last longer and it’s easier to swap over when it does fail.

    Lens sealer after 3M kit

Ceramic coat still the way to go or has anyone tried using ppf as a longer term solution?

The 'I work in I.T' thread

The American overlords in work have come up with a list of words we can’t use in file names in case they cause offence. Two of which are “slave” and “master”. Two weeks ago all the servers, vm’s and file systems got renamed and none of them now work. They’ve now decided it’s actually ok to...

New gen is tempting, my old stubby already does 90% of the work so I could probably get rid of the 18v stuff.

Does anyone have the drawing skills...

Seems like something you can use AI for. No idea if this is free but there’s loads like it on google. https://vectorizer.ai/jpg-to-dxf-converter

    New, Fully Electric Renault 5

The midnight blue looks pretty good to me. Seems a fairly typical Renault thing to bring more colours out down the line. The 182 only launched with 4 colours initially iirc.

I hope these cars sell well, at the price I think they should. Be an ideal replacement for our Clio in a few years time.

    1.5 dci engine woes

+1 the return fuel hose developed pin prick holes on both of mine, should fire straight up if you prime it a couple times first.

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

Starlink is unlimited for home use now unless your looking at buisness plans? “Good news! Your Starlink subscription will remain unlimited and will no longer be deprioritized after 1 TB of data use.”

    Satellite or 4G Broadband

We have Starlink at the farm and whilst it is expensive vs normal broadband it is generally decent apart from the upload speeds. We tried a 4G router but since they started rolling out 5G it got really patchy so we gave up with it.

The 'I work in I.T' thread

Give it 10 years and they’ll onshore it all again. Happened at my previous company, everything got shifted to the India office. They kept getting stuff wrong so UK contractors were hired to check and oversee (basically redo) the work. Company eventually worked out the contractors and India...

Project Binky - mini 4x4 turbo celica engine

I’d be fine with it if it was a good engineering solution but it wasn’t given the plethora of good ways to prototype electronics on offer to hobbyist nowadays. I’d of much rather seen them breadboard it then produce some actual pcbs, Christ I’ve watched the guy over on bps.space spend hours...

Project Binky - mini 4x4 turbo celica engine

Yep, in part people watch to see how they can do stuff with hobby grade tools, soon as they started with needlessly complex solutions to simple problems I lose all interest.

Geomagic DX is the software you’d want for that but it’s hella expensive. It’s based on SW so not sure if some of the tools would translate.

The 'I work in I.T' thread

I think a lot of companies aren’t actually hiring either, I know we have several job ads listed for jobs that don’t really exist. Pretty sure the company just wants cv’s on file for when things pick up and they do need to hire.
