That isn't the vvt kicking in, just the car "on cam". VVT starts a lot lower down the revs, something to do with keeping emissions down iirc.

The door doesn't need to be open to do this.

You do but there's a tyre place 30 sec down the road that will remove and refit for you ;).

Chromecast audio connected to a couple of amps/speakers would work as well as sonos for a lot less if you have any existing kit.

That would completely depend if you need your belts doing. That is when I got mine done and for the added cost was well worthwhile. If I didn't need the belts doing then I wouldn't have them done. Any cams for that matter!!
