Was the R32 not always pretty good on throttle response. So that initial snap as you put your foot down. Obviously not that sustained shove that these big torque cars.

There is no perfect car. V8's lack in torque for what is a chunky car and are getting old. S55 sound poor but have the torque with a little less weight to haul.

Better to have that valid reason before you buy it than after & you are ruined. Now is a sweet spot on some cars if you can get in & out with minimal/no depreciation. Usually the biggest expense in owning a car. If Tax, Insurance, warranty, consumables is £2500 a year on top of £5k...

If you are going 340i route. Need to go touring. Then you have a reason for why you did not buy an M. I still want to scratch B58 itch. But probably go M140i for smaller lighter package ( & manual availability)

Fair enough. I have always liked the idea and a few blokes at work use them as there only vehicle. I guess they are small enough to be a daily or ok on tight roads. However the trade off I guess is less space. But great for 1-2 people.

Big old awning there. I thought you were using that as a Garage. When you are using an awning that big is there much benefit over an estate car with a big tent?

Where are people on a mk7.5 vs mk8? Top end prices on earlier car are 12.5k where earliest examples of later car are 14k, st200 into mk8 prices. Guess maybe different answer std and tuned?

Oh I also test drove a 1995 Corrado VR6 Storm & a Red UK 1999 Integra Type R back in 2004 before buying a 306 GTI-6. I still think the 306 was the better car but history not reflected in the values.

My Bro had a Mk 2 Astra GTE 16v. Superchiped with Scorpion Exhaust in say 1995. It was balistic. I still do not understand how 160 - 170 bhp felt so fast. But my 110 bhp Manta would eat it alive in the twisties. Steering had no feel either in the Astra.
