Steering wheel release has been changed over since that pic was taken.
Only track day booked so far is the weekender in blyton this year. That's been the aim for getting ready although hoping to get a few shake down days in before hand.
Finished pictures will follow once everything is...
Never realised it been over a year since I last updated this
Car is now in final stage of prep to be road worthy again just needs alignment and few other things.
I'l try put up some pictures I have took over the year. I'l leave my Instagram tag as loads of pictures can be found there also...
Some more progress done this weekend
Got all sound deadening out from inside car and engine bay. Started stripping off the paint inside too. What a job this is to do!
Anyone know where I could get the car soda blasted in Scotland??
Still need to cut out passenger side sill to get a...
Also got engine and box out last night to inspect where the oil leak is coming from. I think it's from the seal on the gearbox but won't be sure until I split them.
tbh when i got my donor shell i did think about just moving everything across to save time and work but as im in no real rush to get it done and want it to be a learning project too ive decided to keep the ph1 shell to work on and build up. Dont get me wrong would be far less hassle just to...
Saving it as most ph1 nowadays get scrapped or reshelled that's why there is hardly any now. Gives more sense of accomplishment working hard to save it rather than scrapping and using another shell. You don't buy a new pair of shoes just because you broke a lace to do?
Made a start on the drivers side sill over the weekend.
Outer sill was rotten but inner sill is solid so all good!
Been quiet with this recently due to work commitments but hopefully get more done now and get it out on track soon!
So not much happened of late due to the festive period and being crazy busy at work. Still managed a few things to get checked off the "to do" list.
Fuel tank out ready for plasma cutting and welding of the sills
Heater matrix out
Removed coolant and steering bottles for cleaning
Sheeted up...
Not much of an update but things have happened. Still not made a start on replacing the rot but have sourced another car to take parts from to start the repairs... it's the thought that counts
Things done to date:
All interior wiring loom out
Dash fully stripped bar the heater matrix...
So managed to get a good look at the sills tonight and after a good look it has been said to me that they can be fixed. It's all outside rust nothing structural although it looks bad it will be save able :)
Also when I was in the unit got most of the inside stripped out ready for welding...
Need someone to have a proper look at it tbh and tell me if it can be saved. Managed to source a cheap shell just incase and apparently it's rust free but will see when I look at it this weekend. Nah didn't bother going to Renault about a shell
Sorry for the lack of posts but been really busy at work.
Got the Clio into the unit and stripped down to see what I was dealing with. Both sills and rear quarters are gone. Drivers side floor looks to be rotten too. Really need to have a rethink on what my options are with this now. Want to...
Yeah I don't want to split or scrap it as it's a flamer lol. Not many left I believe. The sills did look "ok" until I took the skirts off and then my worst fears were confirmed.
As for the tow strap. I just mounted it to the crash bar for quickness as I needed it for track. Not sure how strong...
