I use my 172 for Targa Rallies but am having trouble with the 2nd gear syncro spring in JC5 128/9 gearbox, it keeps breaking. Is there any way of strengening it or stopping it breaking?

Thats me long before 1997 (think iot was around 1967!!!!

Checked today and can hire a trailer for £45/day so will probably go down that route, especially as I've been advised by couple of guys who use A-Frame for bring cars 'home' for auction and they would not advise using them without a conversion to implement the cars brakes (£400 approx) so...

Thanks everyone. Have seen them being used by guys after auctions. Didn't realise there wa a weight restriction on using them, so will have to scrap that idea.

Has anyone experience of towing a 172 with an A-Frame?

I've been told that there is a kit available to convert the circlip at the driveshaft end of the diff on a 129 box to the bolt in type of a 130. Anybody got a link etc....
