Thanks for the advice. Definitely worth a try before completely scrapping a healthy head. Just out of interest. Would there be any issues putting 182 head on a 172 engine?
Yeah thats my worry that the cams binding. Sounds like the head could be scrap to be on the safe side but it just seems a shame with everything else being in tact
Hi,
I'm after some advice. I've been offered a Clio 172 head for my track car build but the rocker cover is damaged and unusable. What are my options here? can I use a rocker cover off a scrap engine or is the head scrap? Seems a bit of a waste if the rest of the head, cams, valves etc are...
Has anyone got any photos of a front mounted oil cooler as well as a front mounted Intercooler please? I've recently purchased an oil cooler to supliment my ED turbo kit but I think the hoses could be to short and may need some new ones making up.
Cheers
A bit more progress last night. Managed to get the turbo, downpipe and intercooler fitted. Lower inlet off and new injectors fitted to the fuel rail. Next job is to pipe it all up.
Turbo and manifold comes preassembled from Engine dynamics so they've saved me a job. Inlets and breather plate are already off as I needed them off to get the old manifold out so sounds like I'm pretty much there apart from maybe undoing the top engine mount for a little more room. Subframe is...
Fit the new heat shield as well. I'll put a few more pictures up as I go along. Turbo and manifold to go on next. How did you find that mate? Tight?
Think im going to send my inlets off to ms custom engineering as well to be Port matched gas flowed and painted while they're off
Hi mate,
Yeah thats another good suggestion. Its only a 15mm hole so shouldn't be to difficult should it. Is that some sort of insert you've used on yours?
Cheers mate. This could well be an option. Looking at the guide I've been sent it looks nice and easy if your engine is out but i just went and checked before and its a right pig to get to if the engine is in. If I take the old manifold and down pipe off it may be easier to come from above and...
Hi,
I’ve just purchased the engine dynamics low boost turbo kit for my 172.
I’ve bought the diy kit and am just seeing if anyone else has done this themselves? Can it be done easily enough with the engine in situ or is it easier to take the engine out?
The car is on my lift now with the...
Thanks for your comments @Crazylegs. If I go down the turbo conversion route, the low compression kit from Engine dynamics which produces around 230bhp like you say is more than enough. I wouldn't push it any further. In all honesty the 172 cup I have at the minute is pretty tatty. I bought it...
Been doing some research as I'm now in two minds whether to run ITB's or go for a turbo conversion. Turbo conversion from Ktec is £3898. Engine dynamics are charging £2338.99. Quite a difference between the two. Is anyone running either of these set ups? If so some feedback would be appreciated...
Awesome thread mate. I'm toying with the idea to run Jenvey ITB's or Turbo conversion. From the research I've done so far, turbo conversions seem the cheap option with more power output. Interested to see what your thoughts are when you get her fired up!
Thanks mate, the car is still in bits so I think what I'll do is get some of the mods fitted then get in touch when I'm about ready for the remap just so I borrow the tool for as little time as possible from you. I cant gaurentee when it will be done thats all because as I said at the beginning...
This is brilliant thanks mate. I've got a lift in may garage so I'd be doing all the donkey work myself. It would need taking to EFI once all the parts are fitted though to be set up. I might give Nick at Pure a call and get some guidance from him on the throttle body set up
Thanks for this mate. Yeah I could do without being 5 grand in at the minute. I'm thinking ITBs, ECU, Pure exhaust system with decat, suspenion and brakes. I've read that the 182 manifolds are hard to come by but the aftermarket stainless steel ones are a fortune. I'd be happy with 200BHP as the...
Thanks mate. I will start a thread once I've got a bit further into the project. Between working shifts, 2 kids and a pregnant Mrs the progress could be fairly slow to say the least.haha.
I've been looking on PMS and they have 2 ITB kits. Pure/AT power and Pure/Jenvey. The AT power kit is £500...
Hi all,
I'm sure there has been thousands of these posts in the past but if I'm honest I haven't got the time to search through them all, So I apologies in advance.
I've had a few Clio's over the years. Both 172 and 182 but only used on the road. I've now got a 53 plate 172 cup which I've...
