I am just not had chance to properly drive it as needs a mot. Itching to get a ticket on it and give it a real test.
Still running a small hybrid, room for something with more flow in the future :)
Thanks mate, the starter looks original. Seems like the solenoid is sticking, but can't see the wiring very well. Need to get some bits stripped off to take a better look at it.
Funny you say that. I gave the starter solenoid a friendly tap yesterday and it's started on the button since. No oem clutch in the car and it's slipping so looks like it's a new clutch and starter.
Possible didn't think of that as it's been pretty good. Stuck the trickle charger on it a few times over the winter and always had plenty of charge.
Thanks mate
Checked the earthing strap and all looks OK
Not the crank sensor mate, crank angle. Read and found out first hand they can cause issues.
Started finw this morning. Ran it for ten minutes and knocked it off. Went to start it again and nothing.
Hi all,
My 172 has developed a starting issue over the last few days. At a guess its the starter that's shot but wanted to see if there is anything else to test for. I have replaced the crank angle sensor as this clogged before and caused the same problem.
Bit of a pain as the car is a daily...
I will update on the spiralling costs from track use lol..
Need a dry sump to run slicks due to the cornering force and having oil starvation issues.
Not surprised at that..not that there are that many ralliart dealers who can do it.
Personally if I was doing that sort of miles I would do it...
Haha, certainly popular.
Depends, I do all the fluid changes myself but get the belts done properly by a local tuner.
All below if the car is used on the road, gets much shorter if tracked
Engine oil,oem filter is about £60 from opie. Normally deals on fuchs lol.
Plugs - £10
Aye bleed every...
Thanks bud..
As a weekend toy they aren't to bad. Wouldn't want to use is every day, as they get through fuel and need a regular service.
What really costs is once you start modding them.
Thought I would put something up as seen a number of evo related threads on here and mine has been an on going project. Clio gets used as the daily hack and is probably due some tlc.
I have had the evo for a number of years bad the odd modification over my ownership as bought as a standard car...
Mlr is a bit hit and miss, evolution page on Facebook isn't bad..
Definitely want to get the rust sorted first, known of later cars rot under the fuel tank (filler pipe is common).
What clutch are you going to fit? Ross sport/ owens hybrid turbo would be worth a look. They make great power on...
Looks very clean, only thing to note with all evos is their ability to rot if not looked after. Thay and take every penny. Will get some good torque on a stroker motor.
Be spoilt for choice on the turbo front budget depending lol
