Car was stolen, keys taken from my mums house, 16 yr old - found the next day later driving it not far from where it was taken, police chased him, he crashed it....and lived.

i had a similar problem and thought it was the immobiliser. Turn out to be dirt on the sensor which is under or above the fly wheel. so it turns but won't start. the sensor if dirty doesn't pick up that the fly wheel is turning. It might not be that but it might be worth a try.
