Is that the biscuits or the cars mate? :-))
I noticed you guys had a run in with the mini brigade too! I still cant make my mind up about the mini, like it but sometimes hate it if you understand me. Not sure I would pay the money for one though, know a guy who works for the co that bring...

Sorry Ricjax, I dont know but I bet there will be one somewhere onthe XPOWER forum!
You could always come along to one of the XTREME RALLY days and record the noise of the rally cars! We get loads of people doing on their phones and using it as a ring tone! Well I guess we should be flattered...
Appologies to all the people who had made it over to the Xpower forum and were getting involved in what has turned out to be a good chat about cars and stuff and cars and more stuff, that found the orginal thread closed due to the behaviour of 1 banned member from here.
Thought it would be...
Its the guys on the xpower site that organise all these things, they are such a good lot!
I normally dont have any time, and dont usually do track days unless I am working on them but would make an extra special effort if we can get a joint do together! All things being equal would try and...
About 18 months ago Phil told me how s4ite MGs and Rover were, but he is still a mate! I said "Would you saty that if they offered you a contract to drive a BTCC ZS?" "No, them ZSs are great"
We all have our own views, and especially as race and rally drivers we like to thik our views are the...
Just to change the subject, King Stromba is talking some massive s4ite on the xpower forum about Phil Bennet being a gimp! I can see why you lot banned him!
This 1.2 sounds very intersting! ;-)) I love small engines with stupid power ouputs. I ran a 1300 Fiat Ritmo in 1300 British Rally Championship with 138 BHP, for rally tune that was a lot!
All comes down to what you do with what you have. We did some promo stuff for Pirelli on this years...
Good idea,
Would be interesting to see if all the claims tuning companies make are as good as they claim. I have seen many suspect claims made about shiney bits that cost people fortunes! I have seen plenty that have actually made their cars slower!
These are the kind of tests the mags...
It was all about handling really. The "proof" is ancedotal as we never recorded anything or whatever. We used standard cars all driving both and proper stopwatches etc but it wasnt a strictly controlled test, just 6 race and rally drivers with too much time, an opportunity and a curiosity! I am...
God knows what it had, was like a bl;oody rocket! Mind you there were loads of Sunny GtiRs that were close, and a twin engined R5 turbo. There were also quite a few bangs as well as too much boost took its toll hehehehe
Ene 1/4 mile test etc have a certain driver input though,
A few years back me and my team mate Miles were working at Silverstone on the Trax day, running the 0-60 test. We had a Ford Cougar (Ex prototype from Ford) as run arounds at the circuit, about 6 of us instructors from race, rally etc...
Do you ever get the feeling that life is just going round in circles?
Bit like racing really, must why I became a rally driver, to break free!!!!
In the idea of 1/4 mile tests I would certainly expect the Clio to win every time, would be interesting to see how close a ZR could get though.
You would need to read the whole thing to put that in context, the thread was originally started over on the xpower forum!
Everyone will agree the performance on paper is similar, statistically the Clio is superior by a reasonable margin, however can the ZR overcome the mechanical deficeit...
Well Im up for the challenge! lol
This is probably a mad idea but maybe we should all organise our own massive group test of a whole range of cars, no poncy journos, just real people with their cars.
I told you was a crazy idea!
Luckily the clutch just disingrated, following it it looked like they had just had a bird strike! Feathers of clutch plate flapping about! One of the shfts in the gearbox was poking through the casing at a jounty angle and most of the gear box oil was doing a good impression of waxyoil! Car...
Well said Steve!
On a technical side, the Clio has a narrower power band than the ZR 160, although power and torque are higher, peak torque is at 5250 rpm and peak power at 6500, the ZR is 4500 to 7000. It will be intersting to see if a more flexible engine is more effective than one with...
Factory cars, we run 3 for rally passenger rides, slightly different to full rally spec. The cage is different, has a lower door cross making getting in and out easier.
200 bhp, 201 Nm, 0-60 4.8 sec (straight cut syncro box with homolgated ratios, 1st is like 2nd, 5 th is like 4th in a road...
I have worked with lots of the instructors at Brands, most of us work all round and I think they werent tell you the truth!
The surface at Brands is a high grip co-efficient surface. When Indy cars came over they had to test sample the circuit all over to reasure the CART people that it was...
Errr yes they do, its mainly supplied by Buckingam Group who maintain the surface at Silverstone, it is done in Prixmat (R) as is Donnington, Goodwood, Pembrey, Rockingham. Other circuits use other versions I think one is made by Shell that was used at Croft and Knockhill. Oulton, Cadwell...
If you check out the figures there aint much in it between a ZR and Clio on size and weight, that is of course if you trust respective manufacturers data!
As for a shoot out I am very happy. Blyton is where we tested them, its not the smoothest place in the world but more testing than most...
So now you have to be a professional driver in a ZR160 to beat a clio 182? So surely you in the 182 and Tom in the ZR you would spank him even more?
Very possibly! But the starting point of this thread over on the XPOWER forum was partly about if the car was being driven by a more able driver...
Good Morning, you have a lively thread here!
Just to put a few things in perspective this is what my comments are based on and why I said them.
On a technical test track (Blyton) that is not a flat out flowing race circuit with special high grip asphalt the ZR was actually quicker. This was...
