Had a bit fun with one of you guys in my Black Cup-s! Once heading towards Shields on the a194 and another time heading towards the A1 on the a194, those Trophys definitely get a move on!
We should have a mini-meet sometime, sure Brigs44 would appreciate that!
Alright lads and lasses.
Friend of mine is considering a 220 Trophy. Can anybody tell me what are the differences between phase 1 and 2. Obviously the exterior and some interior is different, wasn't sure about any technical differences mainly thinking gearbox?
Cheers
I'm no expert but think most issues were on 197's and earlier 200's ( I could stand corrected though ). Tends to be the syncros on 3rd and 4th gear. Options are a rebuild or significant discount from Renault UK for a new box, they seem to have been pretty helpful on the issue.
If you find one...

You'll get a tidy Mk 3 200 with low mileage and cup chassis for sub 10k. Gear boxes are probably the main potential area for issue. Never had an issue on my 2012 200 though. They're thirsty too, 25-28 MPG round the doors and 30-35 MPG on a long run, who cares about that though!
Renault are aiming at the masses unfortunately, sales/money talks. They can't afford not to try and compete with other manufacturers which is to detriment of us purists! At least the RS Megane comes with a manual option.
I'm finding the ride on 18's to be absolutely fine, firm but not ridiculous. So desperate for some better weather so I can really feel the handling prowess of these machines! With you on the practically, no space behind me so it's essentially a 3 seater, big enough boot though. I reckon black...
That
That is bloody lovely mate, I like the pre-facelift as much as the mine. The red and black contrast works beautifully. It's my Birthday on Friday so going to order myself an R.S gear knob, bet it feels much better!
Mine is my only car and my daily so went for newer with low mileage...
No, would have been above my budget unfortunately. Will probably only do one track day a year max so will make do with the standard cup chassis set up.
Pretty basic spec, no Recaros or Akrapovic. Has got the Sat Nav and climate control though. I had a budget and I'm more than happy with it. Most importantly it's got the cup chassis, LSD and good tyres. I'm not massively into loud exhausts and the standard seats are really comfy and supportive (...
The car came with new Michelin PS4's on the front and the original PS2's on the rear ( still with 6mm ). Have swapped them round as I'd rather wear the old ones out and then replace with PS4's. The PS2's are clearly a very good tyre but the PS4's give far better traction when accelerating hard...
Here's a few shots from today plus a farewell one of the 200 (), appreciate they're not best! I'm head over heels! Loving the LSD, very effective. Longing for the some warm summer days. Going to France in July, very tempted to take this instead of her boring A3 1.6TDI!
