well it was a reasonably long journey and I had to arrive at a certain time so I allowed plenty of time , so I didn't have to rush.
Good company in the car so no , I wasn't bored, but yes of course the driving itself wasn't exciting.
Just occasionally I can drive with some self...
has it got the o.e Michelin pilot super sport tyres fitted, if so take care on wet or cold damp roads, they are quite poor in these conditions imo
worth having though because in good conditions they are superb.
id imagine the fiesta with mp215 was a bit more torquey mid range, but flat out...
having done the whole engine conversion thing myself, and discovered first hand what problems can and probably will arise, if I wanted a turbo charged clio I would just buy a new trophy, faultless reliability with a warranty, it will be almost as quick in a straight line, and around the corners...
clutch comment makes no sense to me at all.........just confused by that!
I use the paddles in race mode quite often but then I don't do many miles, so when i do get to drive I'm usually enjoying the car, and for me its at its best in race mode.
if I drove it everyday I might just leave it in...
looks great in l.y, hows the car going a month on?
had mine a year now, still look forward to every drive.
Its nice to see the Trophy getting some recognition and good comments now, not too long ago everybody just slated them.....im just glad I didn't listen to the negative comments.
I wouldn't worry, mines done almost 5k miles now and its still a new car tbh, it hasn't changed one bit in almost 5k miles.....apart from its a bit quicker and a bit more economical.
They are brilliant cars, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Be interested to see how you think it compares...
ive got a pre facelift trophy, its hugely capable when it comes to covering ground quickly, and really quick in a straight line, as said the o.e Michelins are superb.
Awesome car, its a joy to drive....... on fun roads on a dry warm day, the sheer grip from the tyres and chassis is fantastic...
i assume it was in full auto mode when you first took it out, this mode has the slowest gear changes and they can feel a bit like that , did you try the other modes?
i brought mine from Nottingham Renault, they had a demo trophy for sale, which was available for test drive, and they were only to happy for us to drive it...... twice!
Stage 1 remap results on the road
pretty good, 250 bhp and 320 nm from a clio with nothing but a remap, and pulling 0-200 kph in 20 secs is impressive.
that's odd, when I went to view a trophy at Nottingham Renault, they were only to happy to give us the keys to their demonstrator, and we had 2 test drives without committing to anything.
perhaps they are fed up of folks just wanting a free play!
David
had mine nearly a year, just done 3700 miles and have to get it booked in for first service.
before that i came from a bmw 335i and a civic type r premier ep3, trophy is so much more capable than either of them, the handling is in another league, its got so much more grip and its ability to lay...
I dont get the whole flappy paddles thing, imo the gearbox is great, race mode is all out manually controlled fun, full auto mode is lazy cruising, sport mode somewhere in the middle.
ive got one, I would suggest you go on a good long test drive because they divide opinion, especially with existing clio owners it seems, perhaps some previous clio sports are more outright fun I don't know, but none of them come close on outright ability. They are really quick in a straight...
couple of years ago I test drove a bmw 335i auto and an equivalent manual, the auto ruined it for me and the other car just came alive with the manual box, ive always loathed autos compared to manuals, they just always felt so detached, especially as I was so often pounding around race tracks...
there isn't much difference between old and new clio sport 0-60 mph, but take standard examples of each to a 1/4 mile track and the newer models will be a little quicker.
independent test figures at the end of the video...
clio 200 edc vs clio 182, both standard in a controlled environment...
please share more info...what went wrong, the tuning company has stage 1 and stage 2 packages and graphs to prove their claims, so it must have worked for them ?
yeah there is but its a foreign company whos cracked it, I posted a thread on here about it a month or so back.
Remap to trophy with no other mods made, 252 bhp and 320nm.
good horse power
i assume you mean 252 nm torque not 252 ft lb, standard torque is 192ft lb discounting over boost in 4th and 5th, but even with over boost its only 205 ft lb iirc
extreme mode is selected by...loading your favourite driving song, pressing play, turning the volume up and then putting your windows and your right foot all the way down.
David
ive had a transit 140 sport for about 6 years, great van.
Looks good and well equipped.
Never let me down, powerful and quite frugal, ive been doing 62 miles a day for the last few months and its averaging 39 mpg.
David
I agree with your sentiment , I have thought the same...how can you improve on instantaneous ?, gears change in 0.75 of a second, or less than a tenth of a second.
I think its the feel of it that some people don't like, in that it dilutes the fun, or loses the fun and control of a manual box...
