I was due to be at the AM Novice session at Oulton Park tomorrow but it's looking unlikely now :(
I've taken the car for a run out and it developed a horrendous sound at the rear when on the brakes. After a look it looks like 3 out of the 4 brake pad retaining clips are missing - luckily I've...
They went into the barriers at old hall at some speed as well. They do love a good off in the BTCC support.
My dad got this photo on the Saturday. It happened right in front of our VW camper, but we'd nipped to the toilet and missed it! Typical!!
It certainly does, no need to touch the steering angle sensor (unless you're replacing the stalk). You won't be disappointed with the Momo boss, it's spot on. :)
I used the Momo boss as it has the cut out for all of the cables and makes life easier. It was pretty simple swapping everything out, and well worth doing :)
I missed your thread until now. Great progress so far. I remember looking a the car while I was after mine as well, the advert was pretty unique :D
I'll look forward to following it all.
I've just completed Zelda around an hour ago. Good game but poor that you can't carry on after the end battle. I wanted to try and get to all of the shrines etc... That does seem a bit lame.
Great game though, I enjoyed the many hours of wasted life! :D
I did have a look at that when I was fiddling around but I'm not sure how the track organisers would like the fixing to be honest? I thought they'd not like it there unless you're allowed adhesive fixings now?
I had a proper look at the camera mount again today to see what everything looked like. If the camera is mounted in the dish thing it does just get a lot of the wipers. It'd have to have something to raise it up which would looks a bit messy really.
The other place I've thought of is here...

Well the mount has arrived and it's not bad quality for a few £. It should do the trick nicely. I can gut a hole in the replacement rubber mat to poke it straight through and it should look neat.
I just need to check what it looks like before I make it more permanent:
It is a 330mm. It's absolutely spot on too. I drove the car today for a good blast just to check everything out and it was great. The smaller steering wheels does make it easier to move the car around and the bit of added weight to the steering is nice too. It's definitely a must to change
Some more progress today with the fitting of the OMP steering wheel and Phase 1 indicator stalk. All went quite well other than needing to nip to Halfords to buy a T50 Torx socket, that was a bit of a pain.
The Phase 1 stalk is perfect though, saves messing around and shorting the horn wiring...
I've not actually checked the field of view yet - I need to do that first. I could always glue it to the replacement rubber insert that I've bought and then velcro that down (or something similar) so it's easy to swap out. I'm not sure the track day organisers will be happy with that though?
I'm going for a Phase 1 Stalk now, I'm too scared of wiring it. :fearful:
I've seen that the stalk is just plug and play and I don't have to do anything with the horn wires to the stalk. Is that definitely the case?
I didn't realise it was that easy to take the dash off. Taking the dash off has always scared me on previous cars although I might give it a go on this. It seems a bit extreme for a dash mount though, although I suppose it's worth doing it properly.
