Hi - I'm looking for recommendations for someone to check / set up the suspension geometry and alignment on a Trophy - in the Cambridgeshire area. Any ideas most welcome .....
Asking for a friend :-)
Thanks in advance

Hi Natoff - PM me if you have any questions about classes, regulations, allowed car modifications etc. The South West is a bit different to the rest of the country (I think).
David: Great photos....... Missing it already :-( Take your time - get used to it before you change anything :-)...
Well, what an excellent weekend at Wiscombe Park for the British Hillclimb Championship!
The sun was shining, record crowds, and lots of new records - including a new outright hill record! I was running in the Downton Engineering class which meant on the Sunday afternoon we were sandwiched...
Hi Rob .... no, Woolbridge haven't published one. Send me an email to wiscombe.hillclimb@gmail.com and I will forward a list on. A lot of the top drivers are there ...... including the top 3 single seaters from last year's British Hillclimb Championship. The outright hill record holders are...
Shameless plug ....
We are giving away free 'How to get started' pamphlets at the British Hillclimb Championship at Wiscombe Park (27th and 28th July). Please do come along if you are in the area - 20% discount for online tickets bought in advance - www.wiscombepark.co.uk/events...
Wow - where does the time go? Apologies for not updating or responding to questions on this thread - the short update is that the car is performing really well and I'm enjoying it.
The big news for me is that I'm now involved in the admin side of the Wiscombe Park hillclimb venue - and that...
They are wearing very well.... two Sprints at Castle Combe, one Sprint at Clay Pigeon and lots of road miles in between. The Extremes wore very quickly on the inside .... probably due to the amount of negative camber I have the the front. They were down to the canvas on the inside and hardly...
Looking at my times for a couple of Sprints at Castle Combe.... I was half a second slower on Interstate Race DNRTs (80 treadwear) than on Extreme VR2s (soft compound). As there was a year between the two laps I'm not sure that its a true comparison. All I can say is that the Interstate...
They don't comply with the Motorsport UK definition of a three point harness. Over the years I've seen a couple of cars excluded for having those types of harness....
Page 162 of the 2019 Blue Book. Sorry .....
The South West scrutineers have been pretty relaxed on this for "road going production" ... I haven't had a rear tow point marked on the Clio (3 years now) and just a screw in tow hook on the front without a mark or label. They might be stricter on Mod Prod ?
Yes.... run number on each side is the usual requirement. Some venues (such as Loton Park) also require a number on the bonnet as well.... check the event regulations to see if a bonnet number is required - if it doesn't say anything in the regs then assume you don't.
Yes .... ignition off...
Minimum of 4 door cards, rear seat, dash board, seats trimmed (i.e. not bare fibreglass), Tax, MOT required. You can remove the interior carpets and there is some flexibility on trim etc (e.g. as my rear seat is unusable I don't have rear seat belts fitted). Sadly the standards of...
No interior puts you into "Modified Production" category - which means a lot more regulations to worry about. e.g. MSA Roll cage, HANS device, etc
Can't you show horn a back seat and some interior trim into the car?
No MX5 only class in the DEWS championship - but I can recommend the MX5 Challenge series run by Bristol Motor Club. www.mx5challenge.co.uk
Are you at Castle this year? I missed it last year due to house moves and things - hope to get there in 2019.
2 litre N A ……. so a Clio 182 should be reasonably competitive ? The other attraction is that there are a couple of guys with Clio 182s already running in the DEWS championship. I'm looking forward to the first event.
Good question!
I still have the Clio but I'm seriously thinking of changing it. The only work I've had done to the Clio over the winter -
1) New TPS sensor on the Jenveys. The old sensor had developed a dead spot which made the car 'interesting' to drive;
2) Looking at ways of reducing the...
Great update .... Re the 'Race DNRT' tyres: did you go for 195s or 205s?
I'd be interested in your thoughts on the tyres. I personally don't think they are quite as good as Extremes - but great value for money.
Hi - do you know what Motorsports UK 'category' or actual class you are aiming to compete in? You have two basic choices -
1) Road Going Series Production
2) Modified Production
The roll cage rules are different for the two categories -
1) Road Going Series Prod - no roll cage actually...
Hi .... yes .... The vr3 position seems strange as they were announced as MSA listed a few months ago.
Hope this link works for my thoughts on this year's tyre list.
I will also send you a link to the 2019 ASWMC events when they are published :-)...
