They've both got the correct level of cartism which makes them easy to watch and the podcasts are great. Looking forward to the cheap track car challenge they're doing next but it's a collab with AutoAlex so hopefully it's not full cringeworthy shite.
No photos as I was driving but on the M11 today I saw a Ferrari Mondial. Even better was that it was being piloted by what appeared to be a 125 year old woman! The car looked really tidy, the old lady however looked like that bowl of fruit that you neglect and it goes all wrinkly, bruised and fuzzy.
I have a feeling I know which one you mean and I agree... I know that business used to build gearboxes for another specialist that was too busy to do them and they stopped using said specialist because of the failure rate.
To the OP. I'd make a trip somewhere else to get it looked at. AW...
Just to add to this, my old engine in my 197 never used oil at all but it started making noises I didn't like so I chucked another engine in that supposedly was fine and ran brilliantly. Which to be fair, it made good power and feels strong, however it'll happily use a litre per trackday. But if...
Discs will be fine I reckon, a few stops and they'll clean up nicely, the tyres should be replaced though. I'm now replacing the 5 year old tyres on my X5 because I don't know what they're realistically like.
So discs should be ok.
Tyres go in the bin.
If you listen to podcasts it's worth listening to theirs - C.R.E.A.M (Cars Rule/Ruin Everything Around Me). An hour of them chatting s**t and taking the piss out of each other, talking about projects, wants and general nerdery. They set up a separate channel for it too so you can see what...
2:19.33 in the wet. On Direzzas. Never got a time when I was there in the dry recently though. That's in my 197 with YSR coilovers, 225 Direzzas and I think the car would have been 206bhp at the time? Not that it made much difference in the wet.
Following on from Blyton was a day up at Oulton. Oulton is my favourite track but sadly it's so f**king far away, a day there turns into a £1,000 3-day event usually as it's 5 hours with the trailer, I usually end up booking a hotel for 2 nights too. The car was in good company with a couple...
Little update, been forgetting I have a thread on here too.
Blyton Park. As usual it's always wet when I go to Blyton, which honestly I don't mind too much, last time we went half the track was underwater, this time we actually managed to use the entire track. Other than the clutch still being...
Several updates to be summed up in a few photos. The 172 was sold to fund a new engine for the 197, the mk2 was fun but it was only going to end up being another car that I'd make miserable to drive on the road, so I did a trackday at Snetterton in it when the 197 was making noises I didn't...
Hello this is my terrible 197. Recently had a new engine fitted by a complete spaz (me) and somehow it didn't die at Snetterton the other day.
Owned it 8 years now. Love it to bits but I'm under no illusion that it's a POS.
I'd put money on it being the oil pressure switch. I haven't had this on my 172 but my 197 did it, normally on the cooldown lap on track which wasn't terrifying at all...
So the NSR caliper hasn't been doing much...
Replaced and now working. I'd normally avoid MTEC discs but these were a steal, front and rear discs with bearings and a full set of Mintex pads for £200. Bargain.
NSF caliper has been mauled by an incompetent ham-fisted mong at some point in its...
Hello! Long time lurker coming out of the woodwork here...
First up is the old faithful, I bought my 197 at the end of 2016 for a mere £3295. It was a bit rough around the edges (you'll get used to that around here...) but mechanically pretty good, it had some dealer special budget tyres all...
