Quick update on the turbines/maracana’s.
They still don’t clear with a 25mm spacer. You’d probably clear it with another 5mm on top, so at least 30mm!?
Sold now anyway, so maybe just swerve them unless you want Leepu spec spacers…
I’m in the process of fitting a JMS inlet to my 182 and need a bit of advice regarding remapping it.
I’m not 100% sure if my car is currently running the 98 Ron map from Henk @ Rs Tuner. There’s a sticker on the engine cover, so I’d assume so.
This locks the ECU (according to most who have had...
I’ll be adding to this over the next few days updating this - I always forgot!
So, belts, waterpump etc were sorted by Barry and the folk at Rentec as well as the service. Top job as per usual!
This was the drive to the unit once I had picked the car up…
Tucked up with some very tidy stable...
Mental money. The rare Japanese stuff is going for eye watering sums these days.
Its not Japanese but an E36 M3 Evo went for £250k the other week too
I share a unit with the chap who owns the Panda 100hp in issue 4 and he mentioned this project a while back.
It’s a brilliant read and has that Evo feel from the golden days. Keep it up chaps! It’s my go to lunch break read at work at the moment 👍
There’s a local Kangoo with what must be a 172/182 lump in it. Goes rather well and has buckets + is stripped out inside.
Managed to have a quick look the other day when parked. Very cool.
Anyone on here?
Properly mint X19 being used for the weekly shop.
An Alpina (not sure its a proper job as DVLA register it as a 523) but lovely regardless.
And this. It’s very well done to be fair but why?!
I know this is probably too late but oh well!
My brother has a 1.2 mk2 Clio with 172 wheels on it. He’s got 16mm or 18mm spacers up front and 5mm shims on the rear. He must’ve done a couple of thousand (hard) miles on it and it’s been fine. It took 3 folk, 3 bikes and loaded to the brim with...
I put the car back into storage recently as I’ve got a new daily shed - A MK1 Berlingo 1.9D  It fits the bikes in the back and I can leave it without worrying if it’s going to get pinched, so it’s a win win. A 70hp non-turbo diesel lump takes some getting used to though…
So, I pulled the...
I don’t think you need need them but I’d be running 5mm longer bolts for the sake of a few quid.
My brother has 5mm spacers on the front of his and longer bolts were a couple of quid each from Kam
Anyone know of how/where to get a set of these rubber stopper things for the fuel filler cap.
The guy who had them on Instagram seems to have disappeared.
This is the trick. Once you spend every other week fixing stuff, nothing has time to corrode as it’s always being taken apart
My front end comes off in about 10 minutes these days. I’m not sure if I’m proud of that or not.
Put mine into storage for a few months earlier in the year, and it’ll be going away end of October until the spring.
I got it serviced, pumped the tires up, left in gear with the handbrake off, battery conditioner hooked up and put a couple of moisture bags in the car. I started it up and took...
Still not sorted the carbon canister. Hope to get it done before it goes back into storage, but I’ve been just enjoying driving it at the moment.
The SGS boot struts came and have finally sorted the issue with Ariel clearance. No dodgy noise either @MRBILLYUK , so maybe you just had a bad set...
Thanks mate (y)
I think I ordered a load of stuff from RPD at the time, and it was just easier to get one I knew fit, rather than having to mess around with eBay parts.
it’s not a bad job though. It’s a bit of a wiggle to put everything back in but apart from that, it’s fairly straight...
For what’s it’s worth, I replaced everything when I did this.
As @Louis said, you’ll be hard pushed to replace the rad without destroying a couple of the caged nuts on the condenser. If you shop around, you ac get a rad, condenser and the cylinder thing that sits next to it cheap enough.
I’d...
Another small update.
A parcel from RPD dropped through the door this morning.
old vs new. I cannot believe how manky these get. I feel like it’s going to be a yearly consumable.
@Hamish Laurie dumped his 182 at mine last night as his wheel bearing was fucked. Started swapping his rear discs...
That’s odd, maybe they sent the wrong ones when I bought them a while back. Bugger! Haha.
It was pretty tight to be honest. Just enough wiggle room to swap it without pulling the spoiler off. I was more nervous about cracking the thing when tapping the light back in!
Cheers chaps
I’ve already ordered the SGS struts, but if they are iffy like @MRBILLYUK experienced, I’ll take a punt on the 1 series struts above.
I bought the cheap ones I currently have from eBay and they were for a standard Clio. Probably why they are a touch too long with the cup spoiler...
Funnily enough, These were the ones I was just looking at. I can’t imagine Renault made different struts for the trophy over the 172/182?
Will get them ordered and update this, cheers Colin!
I noticed the rear bumper/number plate light was going yellow again. I only replaced it 18 months ago! Went to pop it out and it was incredibly loose. Turns out one of the clips and snapped, so again, I’ll need to order a new one this week.
And finally, thank you to @Iranian Pudding for the...
I managed to get a few bits done on the car this evening.
First up was sorting the aerial.
Old base off.
New base and aerial on.
Now the only issue is that I’ve replaced my boot struts with cheapo knockoff jobs and they are slightly too long, which means the spoiler catches the aerial...
