Sounds like it could be a bearing worn thats making the noise. All of the rotating accesories driven by the belts (inc tensioners) have bearings in them, could be any of them. Need to hear it to be sure which it could be.

Add an exhaust manifold to your list. The supersprint for the 1.6 megane 8v fits but needs a custon joining pipe to the rest of the exhaust system. It frees up the top end breathing very nicely and gives extra torque and bhp right throught the revs.

If it's sparking across where you have indicated, give it a good clean with brake cleaner. have a look under the bonet with the engine running when its dark and see if it's still there. Sometimes a build up of dirt can provide an easy path for the HT and it will track down to the easiet earting...

Which DTA ECU are you using? I have used the p8pro on a 172 engine we fitted to a race Spider. Coil 1 ecu pin 1, to d. Coil 2 ecu pin 20, to c. Coil 12v feed to b. Wiring is different for the e48exp. I dont have a diagram for this model ecu.

Yes. If you go for the larger dia throttle the engine will need remapping to correct the fueling (and help improve the torque and power) to the additionl air intake.
