I bought a group N ecu from Hillpower a year or two back for my Mk2 172. Same as the R-Sport ecu AFAIK.
It's now surplus to requirements - is it possible to get it unlocked so I can sell it?
Cheers,
Gareth
Where can I go to get my 172 tested that has a good reputation, in Manchester/Cheshire/Merseyside area? I have previously used ProSport in Stockport and Mikeanics in Congleton, but it'd be better if it was someone that was regularly used by folks on here.
Cheers,
Gareth
Not very happy with my 172's performance since having a custom system and sports cat fitted last week. I have always preferred low-end torque over high-end power and was doing quite well on this front with a few minor breathing mods. I even ditched my Hillpower IK because the car was much...
I know I've been on about this a bit lately, but I've still not got the info I need :(
I am fitting a sequential shift light that is supposed to work okay with a feed off the coil negative. I tried it with pin 3 off the coil pack as recommended for the Omex sequential, but it wasn't having...
Neil - I did away with the OEM filter hose and valve. I bought some SFS cold air ducting (68mm I think) which is good quality and a perfect fit for the hole left in the airbox. This drops straight down - inboard of the headlamp stuff, don't need to move anything - to the wheelarch area, where I...
Yes - I run a 69mm SFS hose straight from the front inlet on the airbox down to a Hillpower scoop in the wheelarch. The SFS hose is wider and keeps its shape much better than the tin foil jobby that Nick fitted originally. The airflow must be alright - you can hear induction noise when the...
Similar set up to my own: 57mm full system with sports cat, ITG filter + silicone elbow + SFS cold air feed, Group N ECU.
I've only done about 50 miles since the exhaust was fitted. Past experience says the ECU could take a couple of hundred miles to notice it. Anyway, revs into 7000s much...
Yep - the quietest they do! Actually it's okay at idle (rumbles) and you can't really hear it above the engine once into 3000+ rpm. But around town in the 2000s it's pretty embarrassing (for someone my age ;) )
When I took out a policy with them in Oct 04 they were easy as anything over the mods on my 172 (disks, springs, chip, IK). They were reasonable when the renewal came up a couple of months back, and I bought some SLs that they were happy with as well.
Had a custom exhaust fitted today and...
After 4 years of ownership I finally saw my gearshift light come on today! I apologise to everyone I have told it was not wired up :o
My excuse is that I was always too careful with the revs in the early days, then after I got my group N ecu the goalposts moved again. Revving beyond 7000...
Need to get a wire from inside the car through to the engine bay (coil pack). Where is best/easiest? The area behind the glovebox seems promising, but I think there's a double bulkhead that will make things tricky. Don't want to start taking bits off if possible...
Cheers,
Gareth
Middo - take it you're going to Silver Systems in Leek. I am booked in there tomorrow for a full powerflow system (quiet/hidden, £280) and sports cat (£150). This guy was recommended on here so I'm happy to give him a go.
Gareth
Tomorrow I'm getting a full powerflow system and sports cat fitted to my 172. The powerflow guy is supplying the sports cat - I think it's a universal box, but it's stainless and it's only costing me £150 on top of the cost of the powerflow. Similar cost to a decat.
It's obvious it's not...
Hoping for the same sort of help...
I've just bought a DRE sequential shift light and need some tips for installing it in my Mk2 172. Don't assume I even know where to look for the coil pack!
The instructions say to wire it up to (1) ignition switched power or battery positive, (2) earth...
Had my Group N ECU for some time now. I'm told these work best with a free-flowing system, so I have been fiddling around doing minor breathing mods (ITG/silicone elbow/cold air feed) and I'm planning to get a full powerflow system and a sports cat fitted later this week.
Is the Group N map...
When Renault UK coughed up 80% of the cost of my gearbox it was largely because I had carried on with dealer servicing even after the warranty period had run out.
