I'm not buying them. The place I got them tests them before refunding me. I'd still rather be sure though.
What do you suggest I test beyond the voltage and amps.
I have a tester that reads the amps with one of those loops over the cable. I'm sure a proper meter would be better but it seems pretty accurate. Good enough to determine if theres a significant load.
It only goes to 1dp on the amps setting so to detect nothing means its below 0.05
I've messaged Bosch to see what they say. If no one on here tells me to steer clear then I'm going to assume I've just been unlucky and stick with them since I have had good experience previously.
Hi guys
I have a 1.6 16V clio
I've had some issues and had 2 faulty Bosch Silver batteries in 12 months. Tested and confirmed.
I'm wondering am I just unlucky. I can get these from Costco for about £60. Wondering if I should push for a refund this time and switch to a better battery. I've...
Both batteries are new, and not the same brand What are the odds.
My Clio's battery is a bosch silver. I replaced it 5 weeks ago. At the time it was a 12 month old Bosch silver that did the same thing. Didnt even have the charge to open the doors.
I've been out today with a tester. Car is...
Hey guys I have a 1.6 16v Clio.the battery is about 2 months old bosch silver .
Car was driver about 4 days ago.
This morning the Mrs woke me up because her car was flat, driven yesterday and the battery is 2 weeks old. A Peugeot 307. No problem I thought I'll grab my jump leads . I then...
Hi guys
My dads car is due a cambelt. 1.6 16v K4M engine same as my 1.6 clio
He has a local mobile mechanic who has offered to do it cheap.
How much should he expect to pay and how much does the kit cost, any of the traders here supply a cheap one?
Might get mine done a little early if the...
Ive been searching for oil details.
I'm sure i read in haynes the 1.6 16v engine should have 5/30 oil.
All the searches ive done pull up posts for the 172/182
I did find one for the 1.2 saying using 5/40.
Should i be using 5/40 in my 1.6 16v.
I love my 1.6 compared to the 1,4 I've driven but if I were going to go to the effort and expense to swap I'd just go for a 2L engine. Although I've heard a turbo wont fit in the 2L engine bay and it will in the 1.6 and i love the thought of a clio turbo. You would have to ask someone whos had...
Hi guys
my dad has a 1.6 16v megane. Not sure what age but around 2000
The "SERV" light has come on on the dashboard.
When turning the ignition on it also flahshes "oil" with lots of dashes.
I pressed the button on the stalk to get into the mini diagnostic on the dash. It reads "---h"...
I did mine by 30mm. Swapped springs and dampers. I wouldnt go any lower on a road car. I just scrape the odd high speedbump occasionally and the ride is pretty bumpy
Not too difficult to swap either
I've done mine a couple of times now. Springs and dampers. Takes about 20 min on a good day to swap each one.
However last time i changed a front spring i found the top of the damper had rusted so much there was nothing for the allen key to grip. That one took a couple of hours to get off.
To be...
For a start mine is a 1.6 16v 2001
Well so far I've done a nice set of alloy wheels. Mine are TSW Freeze. They are slightly wider than the stock wheels 185 --> 190 I think. The extra rubber made a big difference to grip although I did switch to sport compound tyres at the same time so I would...
This s a really "bodge it" answer but if your just after the sound just drill a couple of holes in the airbox. BEFORE the filter of course.
This will likely lower the power slightly due to warm air from the engine bay getting into the intake but it will sound good. Did this with my old 1.4 RT...
Hi guys
I've had an OBD II reader for some time which allows me to pull basic diagnostic data from the car but recently I've been reading about the Renault Clip. I noticed reference to it in the Dialogys manuals for example since 4.2 can communicate with the clip software.
I thought it was just...
They can really take the piss.
Ages since I've been but wouldnt be surprised at £80 since thats what my local Ford charges.
Thats Why I bought an OBD ii Reader from ebay for £20. Software to read it for an android phone is called Torque.
Wont tell you everything the Renault one will but it will...
For anyone struggling on this...
I've just setup version 4.2 on a Virtual Machine. I'm still testing it but seems to be working.
If anyone is struggling setting it up feel free to get in touch and I'd be happy to help. PMing me would be better as I dont check in regularly.
I would also like to...
Using a thermal switch should make the job much easier since there will be no running of difficult cables into the dash, and you have the benefit of it being automatic. You could wire it directly into the battery (fused of course)
Just bear in mind if you do that it will drain the battery a...
Just rang a breakers to try and get a 172 dogbone, He told me he would need to see the part to check the size since there are several sizes.
I know there are a few different years, one twisted one not but I thought other than that they are the same size. Can anyone clear this up.
Good idea, but what data to log exactly. I suppose an OBD ii reader (£20) bluetooth or serial port would allow a lot of data to be read.
I could also add a g sensor if I can find one to record g forces and trigger start times to do 0-60 runs etc
a quick google found no suitable g sensors but...
Just found an open one

You may want a lower temperature if your wiring it outside the pipework. say 70C or even 50C.
This one would be...
Surely if sitting in queues the fan should come on anyway if the temp gets high.
If its not coming on surely somethings faulty.
If you want it to come on at a lower temperature you could always use a thermal switch...
Funny you should say that. I have several intended uses for the Pi, that I wont get into here, but I think it may be too low spec for my purposes here. I dont think it will provide the necessary audio quality but I will be testing it.
