I just posted this in another thread but I suppose it's relevant here also:

Hey guys. I know I don't post on here too often, but I just fitted a k-tec stealth MkII to my 172 cup and thought I'd get my tuppence in:
Firstly: Service from k-tec was spot on - I phoned them on Thursday afternoon (rather desperate as my oem exhaust had already fallen off) and they kindly...
Cheers for all the nice comments guys. As far as I'm concerned I ain't even half way there yet. I have some stone chips needing fixed (I'll tackle them next weekend), some swirls needing removed, and I'm in love with the idea of stripping and polishing my alloys. Maybe then I'll be happy... just...
^^like Rich says. It's all in the prep.
Clay seems to be a big step forward for most people these days. Once you've done that you can usually see a huge difference straight away.
Do the polly bag test before and after claying i.e. wash your car, put you hand inside a sandwich bag and very...
Cheers Rich. Same camera as you iirc.
I haven't seen you posting over on DW for a while mate. We had a Scottish detailing meet at Star Performance last weekend. Was a good meet and watched Rich from Polished Bliss PC a Fabia vRS - great work. Also fired my Cup on the RR, I'd like to think the...
Funny you should mention that, because I have two spare turnies and I really have a notion to strip one of them back to the bare metal and polish it. Although I've got no idea how it would turn out.
Do you know if anyone on here has already done this successfully? any pics?
Cheers guys.
Yeah, I've always liked the AG fast glass too, I use this for cleaning the glass (inside and out) and then use the Clearkote Quikshine on all the exterior glass which repels the water nicely - Keep it topped up and you hardly need to use the wipers at all.
Here's my efforts of a good days detailing yesterday.
Products I used were: wash with Megs GC shampoo & Lamb's wool mitt, dry with Megs Water Magnet, Klasse AIO applied by hand, PoorBoys trim restorer on any black trim, AG fast glass on the windows, tyres dressed with Liquid Extreme and the...
Looks lovely mate!
And for those who keep asking what products you used, I see a whole bunch of Autoglym products in one of the photos... and I also see your flexi-blade lying on the ground!! :nono:
What springs/shocks you got on that? Looks a nice height and I think mine could do with...
Yeah, I loved your cup racer fUbAr, very sweet!
All we need now is for the Reno designers to pull the finger out (won't say where from) and give the public what they want :approve:
Cheers mate. Been using PhotoShop in my job for years... never thought I'd use it for modifying cars though. I must say that using it in this way is much more fun then work.
In all honesty though, I'd say PhotoShop is much more about patience than skill. Play about with all the tools to see...
Cheers everyone. Some very complimentary comments indeed... and I know how critical you guys are
I tried to be as tasteful as possible without going overboard (only takes one silly little thing to completely ruin the look).
Much more to come of course ;)
I'll have a go later at trying to make the front wider and more aggressive looking. I doubt that my PS skills will be good enough to make a quality job though.
Cheers for the nice comments guys.
I agree with you there mate, but it was a bit of a trade off between looking 'beefy & photoshopped' or 'subtle & realistic'
Same for me. I've been recklessly squirting 95ron into my 172 cup since I got it, and after reading nasty stuff on here about the effects I decided to try Optimax... what a difference!... car now feels quicker and smoother.
...a bit sorer on the wallet though, as I do 500 odd miles a week.
...and it's like it just got rid of a cold or something. Feels like it's breathing much better and revving more freely. Not regrets at all... smashing! :D
Cheers bsimmer.
All I really did was change the obvious things which I knew would make it look cleaner and more aggressive. I'm not so confident however, that I could make other views of the car look as tidy... when I get some free time I will be having a go though ;)
On Friday afternoon I drove past a transporter on the M8 near Coatbridge (just east of Glasgow) carrying a 172 Cup which had it's rear end thoroughly stoved in.
I couldn't really tell how bad the damage was, but it was accompanied on the transporter by a whole load of other 'written-off'...
